The promotional event for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana in Mumbai was disrupted after a reported four-hour delay led several media representatives to walk out of the venue.

The press gathering was scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm, but journalists reportedly waited for hours without receiving clear updates about when the session would start. The prolonged delay eventually became the central talking point of an event that was expected to introduce the highly anticipated epic to the media.

When Ranbir Kapoor learned that some journalists had already left, he reportedly told those still present, “Aap logon ko jana hai toh chale jao” (If you people want to leave, you can leave).

Producer Namit Malhotra later apologised to members of the media over the delay.

Ramayana Event Faces Four-Hour Delay

The Mumbai gathering was originally planned as a press interaction lasting approximately an hour. Instead, the programme was pushed back for several hours, with journalists reportedly left waiting without regular updates from the organisers.

According to reports surrounding the event, the delay was linked to MrBeast, the international content creator, reportedly missing a private flight.

The lack of communication during the wait reportedly frustrated members of the media. The publicity team was also reported to have told journalists that they could leave if they were unwilling to continue waiting.

The situation eventually resulted in a number of media representatives walking out before the event properly got underway.

After learning that some media representatives had already left, the actor reportedly said:

“Aap logon ko jana hai toh chale jao.”

The remark quickly became one of the most discussed moments from the disrupted event.

The context was the frustration surrounding the prolonged wait and the departure of some members of the media. The event itself was considerably shorter than originally planned.

Namit Malhotra Apologises to Media

Producer Namit Malhotra later apologised to the media for the delay.

The apology came after the press gathering had already faced significant disruption. The planned hour-long interaction ultimately lasted only around 10 minutes, according to reports.

Despite the extensive wait, the short session did not include major new announcements about the film.

The brief on-stage appearance instead featured some symbolic moments connected to the epic.

Ranbir Kapoor Raises Shiv Dhanush at Event

During the short presentation, Ranbir Kapoor reportedly raised a prop Shiv Dhanush and offered prayers.

The actor is set to portray Lord Ram in the upcoming film, making the symbolic gesture particularly relevant to his role.

He also interacted with MrBeast during the event, adding an international social-media element to the promotional gathering.

Alongside Ranbir, the event was attended by producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey.

Who Stars in Ramayana?

Ramayana is being developed as a large-scale cinematic adaptation inspired by Sage Valmiki’s ancient epic.

Ranbir Kapoor leads the cast as Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi plays Goddess Sita.

Kannada star Yash is set to make his Hindi cinema debut as Ravana, one of the project’s most closely watched casting choices.

The reported cast also includes:

  • Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman
  • Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
  • Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi
  • Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha
  • Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari
  • Arun Govil as King Dashrath

The project is planned as a two-part film series, with the story being developed on a large cinematic scale.

When Will Ramayana Release?

The first instalment of Ramayana is currently planned for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while the second part is expected to arrive in 2027.

The project is being co-financed by Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations, according to the supplied report.

Given the scale of the production, the film has generated considerable attention around its cast, visual effects, music and international presentation.

Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman Join Forces for the Soundtrack

Another major element of Ramayana is its reported musical collaboration.

The film’s soundtrack brings together Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and celebrated Indian composer AR Rahman.

The collaboration has added another international dimension to the project, which is being positioned for audiences beyond India.

An English-language version is also reportedly being developed for international viewers and is expected to be approximately 30 minutes shorter than the primary domestic version.

Ramayana’s International Ambitions

The reported involvement of MrBeast at the promotional gathering also reflects the project’s effort to generate international attention.

The film’s international strategy extends beyond language, with a separate English-language presentation and a soundtrack involving two globally recognised composers.

At the same time, the core story remains rooted in the Ramayana and its characters, with Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Yash taking on the central roles of Ram, Sita and Ravana.

The Mumbai promotional event was therefore expected to be an important media-facing moment for the film. Instead, the four-hour delay and subsequent media walkout became the immediate focus of attention.

Namit Malhotra’s later apology acknowledged the disruption, while the brief on-stage appearance offered only a glimpse of the much larger campaign expected for Ramayana ahead of its planned 2026 release.
