Nazriya Nazim has shared photographs of her Dubai promotional-event look after facing criticism from some social media users over her outfit.
The actor, who attended the event for her upcoming Tamil film Scene, posted pictures in the same green off-shoulder ensemble with the caption “Scene.” Supportive comments followed, with fans challenging the scrutiny of her clothing and defending her right to choose what she wears.
Fans and colleagues support Nazriya’s post
The discussion began after photographs and videos from the Dubai appearance circulated online. While some users criticised her look, others questioned why an actor’s clothing had become the focus of coverage surrounding a film promotion.
Cinema Express reported that co-star Naslen and director Jithu Madhavan left affectionate comments beneath her photographs. The response offered a counterpoint to the negative remarks, with supporters keeping the conversation centred on personal choice and her return to Tamil cinema.

Her Instagram Story did not directly address the criticism
Nazriya also shared a playful Instagram Story that some viewers interpreted as a response to the discussion.

“May your delulu become trululu and your problems go byelulu, so you can finally chillulu,” the message read.
However, she did not name anyone or explicitly connect the Story to the comments about her outfit. Describing it as a confirmed statement against her critics would therefore go beyond what she actually posted.

Her photographs establish that she continued sharing the event look. The intention behind the separate Story remains open to interpretation.

Why the earlier Naiyaandi dispute is a different issue
Some supporters have revisited Nazriya’s dispute over the 2013 film Naiyaandi. At the time, she alleged that a body double had been used for a shot without her permission. Director A. Sarkunam disputed her account, and Nazriya later said she had watched the film and was satisfied that the disputed footage had not been used.

Gulf News highlighted an important distinction between the two situations: choosing an outfit for a public appearance concerns personal expression, while the earlier dispute concerned consent over how an actor was represented on screen. The issues should not be treated as contradictory positions.
Scene marks her return to Tamil cinema
Beyond the social media discussion, Scene represents a professional milestone for Nazriya. It is her first Tamil acting project since Thirumanam Enum Nikkah in 2014. Her Telugu film Ante Sundaraniki received a Tamil dubbed release in 2022, but that was not a separate Tamil production.

Directed by Jithu Madhavan, Scene stars Suriya, Nazriya and Naslen. At the Dubai event, Nazriya expressed happiness about the opportunity and thanked Madhavan for trusting her with the project.
The film is scheduled for theatrical release on November 6, 2026, a date also listed by UAE exhibitor VOX Cinemas.
