Rhea Chakraborty has spoken about the professional difficulties her family faced following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death in 2020, alleging that her father lost a hospital role because of his connection to her.
During an appearance on Farah Khan’s YouTube vlog, reported in August 2026, Rhea said her father, retired Army officer Indrajit Chakraborty, had secured a medical superintendent position at a hospital. According to her account, the opportunity was subsequently withdrawn.
What Rhea said about her father’s experience
Rhea told Farah that her father had obtained a senior job before the hospital identified him as her parent.
She recalled him being told, “You are Rhea Chakraborty’s father, so you cannot work here.”
The claim remains Rhea’s account of the incident. The reporting reviewed does not identify the hospital, provide employment documents or include a response from the institution. It therefore does not establish whether an appointment was withdrawn before he started or an existing role ended.
Her account concerns the wider impact on her family
Rhea described the experience as part of the fallout her family endured during intense public scrutiny.
Her statement draws attention to a consequence beyond her own career: the employment difficulties she says her father encountered. The available material supports reporting that allegation with attribution, rather than presenting the hospital’s actions or motivation as independently verified.
What the CBI closure report established
In March 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed closure reports in cases concerning Rajput’s death. The Indian Express reported that the agency found no involvement by the people named in the complaints, including Rhea and members of her family, in abetment of his death.
However, filing a closure report is different from a court accepting it. The material reviewed here does not establish the latest judicial decision on those reports, so the development should not be described as a court acquittal.
The drug investigation is a separate proceeding
Rhea and her brother, Showik, were arrested in 2020 in a separate Narcotics Control Bureau investigation. The CBI’s findings about Rajput’s death should not be presented as automatically disposing of that case.
Reporting on an April 2026 order to unfreeze family bank accounts expressly distinguished that procedural relief from a decision on the underlying drug allegations.
Why precise attribution matters
Rhea’s interview offers her perspective on the consequences of public allegations for her family. It does not independently establish every employment detail or resolve separate legal proceedings.
Keeping those distinctions clear allows readers to understand what she said, what investigators reported and what remains unverified—without treating public suspicion as proof of wrongdoing.
