Chhavi Mittal is back to exercising after abdominal surgery, but this time her focus is on controlled movement, lighter weights and giving her body enough time to heal.

Actor and fitness enthusiast Chhavi Mittal has resumed physical activity three weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery, but her latest gym routine looks very different from the intense workouts she was accustomed to before the procedure.

In a recent Instagram update, Mittal shared a glimpse of her recovery after undergoing a laparoscopic myomectomy, a procedure performed to remove uterine fibroids. She said the surgery left her with four abdominal incisions and around 25–30 internal stitches.

Rather than attempting to immediately return to her previous level of training, Mittal is taking a more measured approach. Her current routine includes walking, controlled resistance exercises and strength work, with significantly lighter weights.

Why Chhavi Mittal Underwent Abdominal Surgery

Mittal’s latest surgery was related to uterine fibroids. Earlier, she had spoken about experiencing severe menstrual pain and said a rapidly growing fibroid was believed to have developed as a side effect of Tamoxifen, a medication she had been prescribed following her breast cancer treatment.

The surgery comes after an already complex health journey.

Mittal was diagnosed with Stage II, Grade I breast cancer in 2022. She has previously said that the tumour was detected during an MRI after she suffered a chest-muscle injury while working out. According to her account, she had not experienced obvious symptoms that made her suspect cancer.

She subsequently underwent surgery and radiation treatment and has regularly discussed her recovery, rehabilitation and fitness journey with her followers.

Her latest procedure has once again required her to reassess how she approaches exercise.

Four Incisions and 25–30 Internal Stitches

Mittal has described the physical extent of the operation as four abdominal incisions along with approximately 25–30 internal stitches.

Her return to exercise, however, is not centred on how quickly she can regain her previous strength.

She has substantially reduced the amount of weight she normally lifts, working at roughly one-quarter of her usual weightlifting capacity, according to her update. She is also avoiding compound exercises such as squats and deadlifts, which require greater involvement from the abdominal and core muscles.

Walking has become an important part of her current routine, along with controlled resistance and strength exercises.

The change is significant for someone whose fitness journey has often involved strength training and heavier resistance work. But Mittal’s approach reflects a different priority for the moment: staying active while allowing her body time to recover.

‘I’m Not Going to Stop’

Fitness has been an important part of Mittal’s life for years, including during her cancer journey.

She has previously spoken about how her breast tumour was discovered after a workout-related injury, despite not having obvious symptoms beforehand. Following her breast cancer surgery, she underwent physiotherapy to help restore movement and function in affected muscles and nerves before gradually returning to strength training.

That experience appears to have shaped the way she approaches her latest recovery.

For Mittal, continuing to move does not necessarily mean maintaining the same intensity. Instead, her current routine is about adapting her workouts to what her body can handle at this stage.

Recovery Does Not Have to Look Like a Race

Post-surgery recovery can look deceptively simple on social media. Seeing someone back in a gym a few weeks after an operation can create the impression that they have already returned to normal.

Mittal’s update tells a different story.

She is exercising, but she is lifting considerably less. She is avoiding movements that place greater demands on her core and is incorporating walking and controlled exercises into her routine.

That distinction is important because returning to physical activity after surgery depends on factors including the type of procedure, healing progress and an individual’s medical guidance.

Mittal’s routine should therefore be viewed as her personal recovery experience, rather than a template for anyone else recovering from surgery.

Chhavi Mittal Has Documented Her Health Journey Openly

Mittal has consistently spoken publicly about the difficult parts of her recovery.

After her breast cancer surgery in 2022, she documented post-operative pain, physiotherapy and radiation treatment. She also discussed the challenges of regaining movement and flexibility and eventually returning to exercise with restrictions.

Her willingness to share those experiences has made health and fitness a recurring part of her social-media presence.

The latest update continues that openness, but with a different message.

This time, resilience is not about immediately returning to her previous routine. It is about recognising that her body has undergone another major procedure and adjusting accordingly.

Strength Can Look Different During Recovery

For someone used to lifting heavy weights, reducing the load to a fraction of the usual capacity could easily feel like a step backwards.

Mittal, however, appears to be approaching it as part of the process.

Three weeks after abdominal surgery, she has chosen to move again while keeping her workouts controlled and significantly lighter. Instead of attempting to replicate her pre-surgery training, she is allowing her current physical condition to determine what her routine looks like.

Her experience offers a broader reminder that recovery does not necessarily mean proving that nothing has changed.

Sometimes, it means accepting the change, adjusting expectations and gradually rebuilding strength.

For Chhavi Mittal, the return to fitness is already underway. This time, she is allowing recovery—not intensity—to set the pace.
