Actress Ansiba Hassan has claimed that she was pressured into resigning from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) despite earlier agreeing to continue in her position until the organisation’s general body meeting scheduled for June.
The Drishyam actress recently opened up about the issue during a conversation with IndyaStory, where she discussed the emotional strain she says she experienced within the association.
Resignation Submitted After Mental Distress
According to Ansiba, she initially submitted her resignation on February 21 due to what she described as mental harassment linked to internal conflicts within the organisation.
The actress explained that another executive committee member had allegedly blamed her for personal domestic issues, which deeply affected her emotionally.

She further stated that AMMA president and senior members viewed the matter as a personal dispute and chose not to intervene directly.
Asked to Continue Until General Body Meeting
Ansiba revealed that AMMA general secretary Kukku Parameswaran later contacted her and requested that she continue in her role until the upcoming general body meeting.
“He asked me to submit a report, which I did, and suggested that I continue until the general body meeting to discuss the matter. I agreed,” she shared.
However, the actress said she was later informed during a recent executive committee meeting that her resignation had already been accepted.

Ansiba alleged that senior member Shweta Menon insisted that the resignation be implemented immediately rather than waiting until the scheduled meeting.
“She told me my resignation had been accepted. Even then, Neena Kurup repeatedly pointed out that I had agreed to stay until the general body meeting. But Shweta insisted that I resign immediately,” Ansiba claimed.
The actress added that she felt pressured into stepping down despite earlier assurances.

Ansiba also admitted that she stayed silent for months because she feared speaking publicly could impact her acting career.
“At present, I have very few film offers, and I still don’t know why. I am the sole breadwinner in my family and had to protect myself,” she said.
The actress explained that remaining silent eventually became emotionally exhausting.
“I realised that by staying silent, I was only protecting those making accusations against me,” she added.
Police Summons Added to Emotional Stress
Ansiba further stated that she has struggled to recover from the emotional impact of being questioned by police at the Tripunithura Police Station.
“I had to file an RTI application to understand the exact reason I was summoned. I was never informed of the reason when I appeared there,” she said.
The actress described the experience as deeply traumatic.
Mammootty and Mohanlal Were Informed
According to Ansiba, she informed Malayalam superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal about the developments. She claimed both actors were saddened after hearing about the situation.
The actress also alleged that false accusations involving religious conversion and “jihadism” surfaced after she opposed title sponsorship decisions connected to the organisation’s Kudumba Sangamam event.
As of now, there has been no official public response from AMMA regarding the allegations made by Ansiba Hassan.
