Yash Says He Looked After Pregnant Kiara Advani ‘Like a Bodyguard’ During Toxic Shoot

Yash has opened up about Kiara Advani’s commitment to Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, revealing that he and director Geetu Mohandas were particularly careful about her well-being when she continued filming after becoming pregnant.

Speaking at the film’s audio launch in Mumbai, Yash described Kiara as an exceptionally professional actor and said the physically demanding nature of the project had initially made him concerned about her.

According to Yash, those concerns became even greater once Kiara was pregnant. He said he and Mohandas effectively took on the role of protectors on set, making sure the actor was looked after during filming.

Yash praises Kiara’s commitment to Toxic

Yash recalled that his first conversations with Kiara about the film already indicated that she was willing to take on challenging material.

He said he was initially worried because Toxic required demanding sequences, including action and rain-related portions. Yash noted that Kiara nevertheless approached the project with complete dedication.

The actor said her commitment remained strong even after she became pregnant.

Yash described himself and Mohandas as being “like bouncers/bodyguards” around Kiara during the shoot, adding that they were particularly conscious of her safety.

He also thanked Kiara for the commitment she brought to the film, calling her contribution to the project special.

Kiara faced criticism over Toxic’s intimate scenes

Kiara has already been at the centre of considerable discussion surrounding Toxic.

The release of “Tabaahi”, featuring Kiara and Yash, sparked debate online because of its intimate moments. Some viewers criticised the scenes, while others defended the actors and their approach to the material.

Following the release of the film’s trailer, however, attention shifted towards Kiara’s performance and her role in the larger story.

Yash had previously defended his co-star when discussing the criticism. He argued that actors sometimes have to commit themselves fully to a director’s vision and that audiences may eventually appreciate choices that initially appear unfamiliar.

Toxic marks Kiara’s first release after pregnancy

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is particularly significant for Kiara as it marks her first release following pregnancy.

The film reunites her with Yash in a large-scale gangster drama directed by Geetu Mohandas. Yash plays dual roles, while the ensemble cast includes Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.

The recently released trailer has offered glimpses of a darker narrative involving violence, family conflict and a troubled relationship between a father and son, while deliberately keeping several aspects of the story concealed.

Yash returns after KGF: Chapter 2

For Yash, Toxic is his first theatrical release since the blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2, which arrived in 2022.

The actor has taken on a markedly different world with Mohandas’ film, which combines gangster drama, stylised visuals and a more mature tone.

Toxic was filmed simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned for Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam audiences.

The film is produced by Yash’s Monster Mind Creations and Venkat K Narayana’s KVN Productions.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26, 2026.

With Yash returning to cinemas after a four-year gap and Kiara making her post-pregnancy screen comeback, the film is among the more closely watched Indian releases of the year.
