Varun Dhawan Reportedly in Talks for Hollywood Debut With Mortal Kombat Producer

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan may soon take a major step in his career by entering Hollywood, according to recent industry reports.

The actor, whose fans were recently disappointed after the trailer launch of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was reportedly delayed due to technical issues, is now making headlines for an entirely different reason.

Reports suggest that Varun is in discussions for an international action project associated with American producer Lawrence Kasanoff, best known for the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Action Film Reportedly Set in an Inter-Parallel Universe

According to reports, the proposed project is described as a large-scale action film set in an inter-parallel universe.

The film is currently said to be in its early development stages, and no official announcement has been made so far.

Industry sources claim that Varun Dhawan was recently approached for the project and discussions between both sides have been progressing positively over the last few weeks.

Meeting With Lawrence Kasanoff Reportedly Took Place

Reports further suggest that Varun personally met producer Lawrence Kasanoff and expressed interest in the project.

The actor and the production team are reportedly in advanced negotiations, with discussions expected to conclude soon if everything moves forward as planned.

If finalized, the project would mark Varun Dhawan’s first Hollywood venture.

However, neither the actor nor the makers have officially confirmed the development yet.

Varun Earlier Spoke About His Hollywood Dream

Varun Dhawan has openly discussed his desire to work internationally in previous interviews.

Last year, the actor shared that he had always dreamed of becoming an international performer and even hoped legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg would launch him one day.

Speaking during an earlier interaction, Varun revealed that his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, never intended to launch him traditionally.

According to the actor, his mother had once told him that David Dhawan preferred working with him only after he had already proved himself as a successful actor.

Varun also joked that he had once considered making his acting debut directly in Hollywood to surprise his father.

Upcoming Projects

At present, Varun Dhawan is busy preparing for the release of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan.

The comedy entertainer stars Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur alongside Varun and is scheduled to release in theatres on June 5.

Apart from that, the actor also has Bhediya 2 in development, continuing the horror-comedy universe established by the first film.
