Tamannaah Bhatia is bringing a distinctly Bihar-inspired aesthetic to her The Vvaan promotions. For her latest appearance, the actor paired a yellow-and-blue Torani saree with a hand-painted Madhubani dupatta featuring Radha and Krishna, creating a look that connected traditional Indian craftsmanship with the world of her upcoming film.

The ensemble was also chosen for Radha Ashtami, and Tamannaah described the outfit on Instagram as an “ode to Bihar and the wonderful world of The Vvaan.”

Rather than treating the cultural references as simple styling details, the actor used the saree, dupatta and jewellery to build a look around Bihar’s traditions and the film’s regional setting.

The deep blue blouse carried intricate white threadwork, creating a sharp contrast with the brighter saree.

However, the colour palette had a meaning beyond its visual appeal. Explaining the inspiration behind the combination, Tamannaah connected the transition from yellow to deep blue with the symbolism of Chhath.

“During Chhath, we pray not only to the rising sun but also to the setting sun. Our yellow hue transitioning to a deep blue honours the light as it leaves and as it returns.”

The explanation gave the promotional look a cultural narrative rather than making it purely about fashion.

The Madhubani Dupatta Is the Centrepiece

The most distinctive element of Tamannaah’s ensemble was the hand-painted Madhubani dupatta, also referred to as an odhna.

Madhubani, or Mithila painting, is a traditional art form associated with the Mithila region. It is known for detailed patterns, strong outlines, vibrant colours and subjects drawn from mythology, nature and everyday life.

For Tamannaah’s outfit, the dupatta was created as one continuous artwork.

The actor revealed that four artists worked on the piece, with the painting designed as a continuous story. At its centre were Radha and Krishna, surrounded by motifs inspired by Mithila.

“This hand-painted Madhubani odhna was created by four artists as one continuous piece of storytelling. At the very centre are Radha and Krishna, surrounded by details inspired by Mithila, each carrying its own meaning.”

That detail makes the dupatta more than an accessory. It functions almost like a wearable artwork, bringing the visual language of Mithila painting into a contemporary fashion ensemble.

Why Madhubani Art Fits the Look

Madhubani painting has a long history in the Mithila region and has traditionally been associated with women artists. Over time, the practice has expanded beyond its earlier settings and is now created on materials including paper, canvas and fabric.

Its characteristic use of intricate patterns and strong colour contrasts makes the art form particularly adaptable to fashion.

In Tamannaah’s look, the painted dupatta provides a visual counterpoint to the comparatively structured saree. The result combines two different forms of craftsmanship without allowing either to completely overpower the other.

Diamond Jewellery Adds a Contemporary Finish

Tamannaah completed the traditional ensemble with diamond chandelier earrings from her jewellery brand, Tamannaah Fine Jewellery.

The earrings feature a cascading design with delicate drops, giving the otherwise heritage-focused outfit a more contemporary finish.

The choice also created an interesting contrast: the hand-painted dupatta and embroidered saree represented traditional craft, while the diamond earrings introduced a distinctly modern jewellery element.

Tamannaah Performs Aarti by the Ganga

The cultural theme extended beyond the outfit itself. Tamannaah was also seen performing aarti on the banks of the Ganga while wearing the saree and Madhubani dupatta.

The setting complemented the references to Bihar and Chhath that she had described while explaining the ensemble.

With The Vvaan drawing on a Bihar-connected setting and Tamannaah using her promotional wardrobe to reflect that influence, the outfit became part of the film’s wider visual campaign.

Tamannaah’s The Vvaan Promotion Gets a Heritage-Focused Look

Tamannaah’s latest promotional appearance demonstrates how regional craftsmanship can be incorporated into contemporary celebrity fashion without losing its cultural identity.

The yellow-and-blue Torani saree established the base, while the Madhubani dupatta provided the most personal and artistic element of the ensemble. Radha-Krishna imagery, Mithila-inspired motifs, traditional embroidery and modern diamond jewellery brought several visual traditions together.

For an actor promoting a film rooted in Bihar, the choice offered a way to reference the region through fashion while keeping the overall look polished and contemporary.

The Vvaan, starring Tamannaah Bhatia and Sidharth Malhotra, is scheduled for theatrical release on September 25.
