Following the dramatic conclusion of Season 3, the Oscar-winning actress has encouraged fans to make their voices heard as Paramount+ considers the future of Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller.

Kidman, who plays CIA Clandestine Service supervisor Kaitlyn Meade, told Entertainment Weekly that she remains passionate about the series and would like to explore more of Kaitlyn’s story if a fourth season moves forward.

“We need to have loud voices,” Kidman said. “I’m passionate about the show, so I’m glad other people are. It really seems to connect more and more with people as they discover it.”

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the Lioness Season 3 finale.

Lioness Season 3 Leaves Major Questions Unanswered

The Season 3 finale, titled “The Unravelling,” left the characters facing significant personal and professional consequences.

Joe, played by Zoe Saldaña, finds herself in an especially vulnerable position after her husband leaves with their children. The episode also delivers a major revelation involving Aaliyah Amrohi, played by Stephanie Nur.

Aaliyah, who was introduced as a target during the first season, is revealed to have been behind Joe’s kidnapping.

For Kaitlyn, the situation creates another difficult problem. Joe remains an extremely valuable member of her team, but the events of the season have placed the operative under enormous emotional pressure.

Lioness Season 3 Leaves Major Questions Unanswered

Nicole Kidman Explains Why Kaitlyn Is So Different From Her

Kidman says one of the reasons she continues to enjoy playing Kaitlyn is that the character operates in a mental and emotional space very different from her own.

Kaitlyn is strategic, composed and capable of making decisions under extreme pressure. According to Kidman, the character’s ability to compartmentalize emotions is one of her defining traits.

“I don’t get to ever play anybody this badass,” Kidman said. “She’s so powerful, calm under pressure, strategic.”

The actress added that Kaitlyn’s emotional discipline is particularly interesting because she does not respond to life-and-death situations in the way many characters traditionally do.

Kaitlyn’s Relationship With Joe Remains Complicated

The relationship between Kaitlyn and Joe is another central issue heading into a potential fourth season.

Kidman explained that Kaitlyn values Joe enormously, but she also needs her operative to remain disciplined and focused on the mission.

From Kaitlyn’s perspective, Joe is free to leave the service if she chooses. However, every decision has consequences, and Joe repeatedly chooses to remain committed to the mission.

That creates a difficult balance between loyalty, professional responsibility and the emotional toll of the work.

Could Joe Really Walk Away?

Joe’s future is one of the biggest questions following the Season 3 finale.

Her experiences have changed her, and the possibility of stepping away from field work raises questions about whether she could realistically adapt to a more conventional role.

Kidman acknowledged that Joe is at a crossroads.

While Kaitlyn may consider moving her into a different position, Joe’s personality and experience make it difficult to imagine her simply becoming an office-based operative.

The question could become a major storyline if the series returns.

Kaitlyn’s Marriage Could Get More Attention

Season 3 also provided viewers with a closer look at Kaitlyn’s marriage and home life.

Kidman said she would like to explore that side of the character further in another season, particularly the history behind Kaitlyn’s relationship with her husband.

She described the marriage as an intellectually strong partnership in which both characters understand and support one another.

For Kidman, Kaitlyn’s loyalty extends across virtually every part of her life. Once she commits to something, she remains deeply committed.

That quality is visible not only in her marriage but also in her professional relationships.

Kidman Praises Kaitlyn and Westfield’s “Work Marriage”

Another relationship Kidman highlighted is Kaitlyn’s professional partnership with Westfield, played by Michael Kelly.

She described their dynamic as a kind of “work marriage,” emphasizing how well the two characters understand each other.

Their relationship operates largely through trust and instinct, with both remaining committed to their shared objectives.

That partnership could become increasingly important if Kaitlyn has to deal with the fallout from Joe’s situation.

Kaitlyn Has a Moral Code, Kidman Says

The Season 3 finale also raises questions about Kaitlyn’s decision-making after Oleksandra, played by Elizaveta Neretin, is ultimately revealed not to have been responsible for Joe’s kidnapping.

Despite that revelation, Kaitlyn and Westfield conclude that Oleksandra must still be eliminated.

Kidman said Kaitlyn does have a conscience and a moral code, but she evaluates those principles alongside the potential cost of every decision.

The actress explained that Kaitlyn cannot allow herself to become consumed by regret because doing so could prevent her from functioning effectively.

For Kaitlyn, moving forward is part of surviving in a world where hesitation can have serious consequences.

Nicole Kidman Wants More Room to Explore Kaitlyn

If Lioness receives a fourth season, Kidman sees plenty of possibilities for her character.

She said there are numerous directions Kaitlyn’s story could take and praised creator Taylor Sheridan for having the ability to expand the show’s characters and conflicts over multiple seasons.

Kidman also noted that continuing a series allows its characters to become deeper and more complex as their histories and relationships are explored.

“It’s just so rich that there’s so many different paths that you can go down,” Kidman said.

“Demand It!” Nicole Kidman Calls on Lioness Fans

The future of Lioness has not been officially settled in the material discussed here, but Kidman’s comments make her position clear: she would like to return.

When asked whether fans should push for another season following the cliffhanger ending, Kidman responded enthusiastically:

“Go ahead, c’mon, we need to have loud voices — demand it!”

For now, fans are left with unanswered questions about Joe, Kaitlyn, Aaliyah and the future of the Lioness program.

Whether those questions are explored in Season 4 remains to be seen.
