An Indian professional working in South Korea has drawn attention online after sharing details of a workplace fitness challenge that she says rewards employees who consistently exercise for two months. According to Maansi Arora, participants can receive high-end gifts, with Gucci, Chanel and Prada among the luxury brands she mentioned.

A workplace fitness initiative in South Korea has caught the attention of social media users after an Indian woman shared how her company encourages employees to exercise.

Maansi Arora, who works in South Korea, described the programme in an Instagram video, saying employees can qualify for rewards by maintaining a regular workout routine for two months.

The unusual combination of workplace wellness and luxury incentives quickly prompted comparisons with corporate culture in India.

How the Two-Month Fitness Challenge Works

According to Arora, employees participating in the initiative are expected to work out consistently for the duration of the challenge.

She explained that participants are required to provide daily proof of their activity, such as a photograph or video, which is sent to a team leader or manager.

Employees who successfully complete the two-month period can then receive a gift from the company.

Arora emphasised that the rewards are not simply inexpensive promotional items.

“And these are not small gifts. These are high-end brands — Gucci, Chanel, Prada.”

Her description of the programme was based on her own experience after joining a company in South Korea.

‘They Want You to Take Care of Your Health’

Arora said the idea behind the initiative was to encourage employees to make time for their physical well-being despite demanding professional and personal schedules.

She suggested that the programme gives workers an additional reason to incorporate exercise into their routines.

“This is happening because they want you to take care of your health along with whatever busy schedule you have in life and whatever work you are doing.”

For Arora herself, the incentive appears to have provided a practical push.

She said she had already been looking for a reason to start exercising and felt that discovering the workplace challenge could provide the motivation she needed.

“Maybe this is the motivation I needed to work out, and finally I got it.”

Luxury Rewards Become the Talking Point

While the initiative is centred on employee wellness, the mention of Gucci, Chanel and Prada quickly became the most discussed element of Arora’s video.

Luxury products can carry a significantly higher perceived value than conventional workplace rewards, making the programme particularly eye-catching on social media.

Arora’s account, however, describes the brands as examples of the high-end rewards associated with the initiative; the exact eligibility rules, reward catalogue and monetary value of individual gifts were not detailed in the video.

Social Media Users Compare the Experience With India

The video triggered a large number of reactions from Indian users, many of whom compared the reported workplace initiative with their own experiences of office culture.

Some comments focused on working hours and the difficulty employees may face when trying to make time for exercise outside work.

One user jokingly wrote:

“I discussed this with my Indian manager last month, he said AI hai.”

Another commented that some Indian workplaces can make employees feel as though their lives should revolve around the company.

Other users focused on the longer-term benefits of encouraging exercise. One commenter suggested that consistently exercising for two months could help turn it into a lasting routine rather than something requiring constant motivation.

‘The Only WORKOUT Indian Work Culture Cares About Is WORK OUTPUT’

Several comments used humour to contrast workplace expectations in India with the fitness programme described by Arora.

One user wrote:

“Meanwhile in India, people will judge the hell out of you if you leave office on time to go to gym.”

Another summed up the discussion with a play on the word “workout”:

“The only WORKOUT Indian work culture cares about is WORK OUTPUT.”

The comments reflect individual perceptions of workplace culture rather than a comprehensive comparison between South Korean and Indian employers.

Workplace Wellness Is Becoming a Bigger Conversation

Employee wellness programmes can take many forms, including gym reimbursements, fitness challenges, health screenings, wellness allowances and flexible schedules.

Arora’s story stands out because of the unusually high-value rewards she says are attached to her company’s fitness challenge.

The discussion also highlights a broader question about how employers can encourage healthier routines without turning exercise into another source of workplace pressure.

For Arora, however, the programme appears to have served its intended purpose: giving her an additional incentive to make exercise part of her routine.

Her account has now sparked a much bigger online conversation about employee benefits, workplace wellness and the amount of time people are able to devote to their health alongside their jobs.
