Actor Shriya Saran has praised the recently released series Space Gen Chandrayaan as a heartfelt tribute to the unsung heroes behind historic achievements. In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Shriya highlighted the emotional depth of the show, its responsibility in storytelling, and singled out Nakul Mehta’s performance as a career-defining one.
A Tribute to the Unsung Heroes
Shriya Saran, who has recently appeared in Space Gen Chandrayaan, said, “From the time I got to know about the show till the first screening, I remember meeting everyone involved. When I stepped onto the set, I immediately felt that this show comes with a lot of responsibility. We’re not just showing achievements here, we’re actually talking about the stories of people who sacrifice and work extremely hard to achieve them.”
The series, she explained, stands out because it celebrates those who remain invisible behind major milestones. “Very often, we celebrate success but forget to celebrate the people who are behind it, and this show really takes us there,” she added. Shriya also commended the writers’ meticulous research and storytelling craft, which brought authenticity to the narrative.
Nakul Mehta’s Performance: A Career Highlight
When asked about her favorite character, Shriya didn’t hesitate. “For me, my favourite character is Nakul’s because I feel he explains why we needed to tell this story in such a humane way,” she said. She added that Nakul’s portrayal serves as the emotional anchor of the series, grounding the other characters’ highs and lows.

Shriya emphasized that working alongside a talented ensemble cast made the series even more meaningful. “I worked with some really amazing actors, which makes this show very special,” she shared. The series also features performances by Danish Sait and Amruta Khanvilkar, adding further depth to the production.
When asked if she had shown the series to her daughter Radha, Shriya revealed that her daughter had only seen select songs. “No full screen time, but she has seen a few songs. I showed her some of it, and she’s excited,” she said.
