Sharvari on Alpha, Alia Bhatt Comparisons and Her Dream to Become the Best Actor of Her Generation

Bollywood actor Sharvari is stepping into a major new phase of her career with Alpha, the highly anticipated action thriller from the YRF Spy Universe. In a candid cover story interview, the actor opened up about working with Alia Bhatt, surviving the pressures of the film industry and her long-term ambition to become “the best actor” of her generation.

Sharvari described Alpha as a landmark project, especially because it features two women leading a large-scale action film within one of Bollywood’s biggest cinematic universes.

“It’s more responsibility than pressure,” she said while speaking about the film. “I’ve always had very high expectations from myself. I just want to keep my head down and work hard.”

The actor also spoke warmly about Alia Bhatt, who has often been linked to Sharvari through “next Alia Bhatt” comparisons online.

“There is only one Alia Bhatt,” Sharvari said, calling the National Award-winning star her favourite actor. She added that while the comparison is flattering, she wants to build her own identity through her film choices and performances.

Sharvari revealed that working closely with Alia during Alpha gave her an opportunity to learn not just about acting but also about handling stardom with grace and professionalism.

The actor also revisited her early days in cinema when she worked as an assistant director intern on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani. She described the experience as life-changing and credited it for shaping her understanding of filmmaking.

“I manifest this all the time — to walk onto Sanjay Sir’s set as an actor,” she shared.

Reflecting on the phase between Bunty Aur Babli 2 and the surprise success of Munjya, Sharvari admitted that patience became one of the biggest lessons of her career.

Munjya turned out to be a major breakthrough for the actor, becoming her first Rs 100-crore theatrical success and significantly boosting her visibility in the industry.

Sharvari also discussed her process as an actor, revealing that music plays a major role in helping her prepare for characters. She creates separate playlists for every role, including one for Alpha filled with tracks by Beyoncé, Shakira and Dua Lipa.

Talking about her upcoming collaboration with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali in Mein Wapas Aaunga, Sharvari praised the director’s emotionally layered storytelling and his nuanced portrayal of female characters.

“He taught me to live in the moment and explore contradictory emotions,” she said.

Beyond films, the actor spoke about the importance of authenticity in the social media age, saying audiences can instantly recognise anything fake or overly curated.

“I’m unabashedly myself,” she said. “I can’t do anything halfway.”

Sharvari also shared her love for travel, photography, nature and spending time with her cat Miso, calling these experiences grounding and spiritual for her.

When asked about her biggest ambition, the actor gave a clear and confident answer.

“I really want to be known as the best actor of my generation,” she said. “That’s something I work towards every single day.”
