Sargun Mehta says films should take priority over individual publicity campaigns.

Punjabi actor and producer Sargun Mehta has spoken candidly about what she believes is the growing misuse of public relations (PR) strategies in the entertainment industry. Ahead of the release of Carry On Jatta 4, Sargun shared her views on how promotional campaigns sometimes shift attention away from a film and instead focus on creating competition among actors from the same project.

The actress emphasized that the success of a film should remain the primary goal, rather than individual attempts to dominate headlines.

Sargun Mehta on the Changing Role of PR

Discussing the issue during a recent interaction, Sargun said that PR activities are not only used to compete with rival films but are increasingly being used within the same production to highlight individual performers.

According to her, it has become common to see separate narratives being promoted for different actors involved in a single movie, with each campaign attempting to position a particular star as the standout performer.

She explained that this trend can create unnecessary competition among cast members and distract from the film itself.

‘The Film Should Be the Focus’

Using her upcoming film Carry On Jatta 4 as an example, Sargun noted that promotional efforts sometimes become centered on proving which actor contributed the most to the project.

She believes audiences today are smart enough to recognize such strategies and are more interested in the overall quality of the film rather than individual publicity campaigns.

Sargun stressed that when a movie succeeds, every actor associated with it benefits collectively. Conversely, she argued, even the strongest personal branding cannot compensate if the film fails to connect with audiences.

Her comments highlight an ongoing conversation within the entertainment industry about balancing personal visibility with collaborative storytelling.

Carry On Jatta 4 Set for June Release

Sargun’s remarks come as anticipation builds for Carry On Jatta 4, the latest installment in one of Punjabi cinema’s most successful comedy franchises.

Directed by Smeep Kang, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 26, 2026.

The cast includes:

The franchise has consistently performed strongly at the box office, with Carry On Jatta 3 becoming one of the biggest Punjabi film successes globally.

Tribute to Jaswinder Bhalla

The fourth installment also carries emotional significance for fans following the passing of veteran comedian Jaswinder Bhalla in 2025.

Bhalla’s character, Advocate Dhillon, became one of the franchise’s most beloved figures over the years. To honor his contribution, the filmmakers have reportedly incorporated the character into the movie through AI-assisted technology.

The decision is intended as a tribute to Bhalla’s legacy and his longstanding connection with the Carry On Jatta series.

With strong audience expectations and a successful franchise history behind it, Carry On Jatta 4 is among the most anticipated Punjabi films of 2026.
