Sairaah Talks About Love, Longing and the Beautiful Restlessness of Saanware

Singer Sairaah is exploring the quieter, more vulnerable side of romance with her latest single, Saanware. Built around the feeling of being unable to sleep because someone you love occupies your thoughts, the track captures the anticipation, longing and emotional restlessness that often accompany falling deeply in love.

Known for moving between Bollywood favourites and English classics, Sairaah describes Saanware as a more intimate and conversational expression of her artistry. Rather than drawing from one specific incident, the song grew out of a familiar emotional state.

Sairaah on the Emotion Behind Saanware

For Sairaah, Saanware revolves around the experience of missing someone even when they are not physically present. The song puts listeners inside the thoughts of a woman who is waiting for the person she loves and finding it difficult to switch off her mind.

“Saanware came from a very familiar emotion, which is the feeling of being so deeply in love with someone that they occupy your mind even when they’re not around,” Sairaah said.

She explained that the song is imagined as a conversation from a girl’s heart, reflecting the thoughts that surface while waiting, missing someone and lying awake at night.

“I wanted to capture that beautiful, restless side of love, the kind that makes you smile, ache and stay awake at night,” she added.

A More Personal Side of Sairaah’s Music

While Sairaah has performed songs from both Bollywood and the English music space, creating original music gives her a different opportunity to explore emotions that are closer to her own artistic identity.

Talking about the distinction, she said, “While I love performing Bollywood and English classics, with my own music I get to explore emotions and stories that feel very personal to me.”

Although Saanware has a distinctly romantic core, Sairaah says its musical treatment is contemporary. This combination allows the song to retain the warmth of a classic love story while presenting it through a modern sound.

Sairaah Takes Saanware on the Road

Alongside the release of Saanware, Sairaah is also continuing with her India Tour, bringing her music to live audiences across different cities.

For the singer, performing live involves more than simply reproducing songs on stage. She sees concerts as opportunities to create a direct connection between the performer and the audience.

“For me, a live show is never just about singing songs, rather it’s about creating a shared experience,” she said.

Her live performances feature a combination of classics and original music, along with audience interaction and an energetic atmosphere. Sairaah also believes that every city brings its own character to a concert, making each performance a different experience.
