Producer Ravi Bhagchandka, renowned for backing impactful and unconventional cinema, has announced his upcoming project Bombay High, a gripping disaster drama inspired by one of India’s deadliest offshore tragedies. The film is set to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, known for his work in Malayalam cinema, including Take Off, Malik, and C U Soon.
A Story Rooted in History
The title Bombay High refers to the offshore oil field in the Arabian Sea, a key contributor to India’s energy sector. Decades ago, the region witnessed a catastrophic accident on an oil platform, causing massive loss of life, environmental damage, and raising questions about industrial safety. While widely reported, the personal stories of workers, rescuers, and families have largely remained untold. Bhagchandka aims to give this tragedy a cinematic platform, honouring the lives lost and celebrating human resilience.
Talented Team Behind the Film
Anubhav Chopra, known for films like Don 2, The Sky Is Pink, Dil Bechara, and the Netflix series House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths, will handle the screenplay. The story concept was developed by Karan Paramjit Sharma, ensuring a narrative that balances human cost with courage and survival.
Mahesh Narayanan brings his multifaceted experience as a director, screenwriter, editor, and cinematographer to the project, promising a visually and emotionally compelling portrayal of the disaster.
