Ramya Hits Back at Darshan Fans After Supporting Renukaswamy’s Family

Bengaluru, July 28 (IndyaStory Magazine) — Actor and former MP Ramya has once again spoken out in support of the family of Renukaswamy, the victim in the high-profile murder case linked to Kannada film star Darshan. Her comments, which came after a critical observation by the Supreme Court, have reignited online trolling from Darshan’s fan base — but Ramya remains undeterred.

Last week, the Supreme Court questioned the Karnataka High Court’s decision to grant bail to Darshan, observing that the move was so lenient it “almost amounted to an acquittal.” Quoting this development, Ramya shared a screenshot of a news headline on Instagram with a message that read:

“SC is a ray of hope for the common people of India — justice for the family of Renukaswamy.”

The post quickly went viral — but not all reactions were supportive.

Trolled for Speaking Up

Shortly after her post, Ramya’s Instagram comment section was flooded with abusive remarks, mostly from Darshan’s fans. Many accused her of bias or targeting the actor deliberately. However, Ramya responded head-on, addressing the trolling in an Instagram Story.

“To all the DBoss fans — Welcome to my Instagram 🙂 Your comments are proof why Renukaswamy’s family needs justice!”

Her firm response struck a chord with many netizens who praised her courage for standing by the victim’s family despite the backlash.

Not the First Time

This is not the first instance of Ramya facing online abuse for her stance on the case. In 2024, shortly after Darshan’s initial arrest, she had posted:

“No one is above the law. No one should take the law into their hands.”

That comment too had led to trolling, showcasing the intense polarisation around the case — especially among Darshan’s supporters.

Darshan Out on Bail, Resumes Film Commitments

Meanwhile, Darshan — out on bail — has resumed public appearances. He was recently spotted at several temples across Karnataka and is reported to have traveled to Thailand last week to film portions of his upcoming movie Devil. He returned to Bengaluru two days ago and has since been maintaining a low public profile.

Darshan and Ramya have previously shared the screen in two Kannada films — Datta and Snehana Preethina — but their professional history has not shielded Ramya from criticism for her vocal stance in the current legal matter.
