Rakul Preet Singh Calls Out Bollywood’s Paid PR Culture: ‘Good Work Always Wins’

Actor Rakul Preet Singh has spoken candidly about Bollywood’s growing dependence on paid public relations, calling certain publicity tactics unnecessary and deeply negative.

In a recent interview, Rakul acknowledged that maintaining some level of visibility is unavoidable in the film industry. However, she expressed concern over how far PR strategies have gone, especially when they involve targeting or undermining fellow actors to stay relevant.

“We all have to do a little bit of PR and maintain some presence,” she said. “But there are some people who even go to the extent of bashing others. I honestly wonder how negative one has to be to do that.”

Rakul added that she believes in letting her work speak for itself rather than relying on aggressive publicity. According to her, consistent effort, honesty, and patience eventually bring rewards without the need for manufactured hype.

“I come from the belief that good work and good karma come back to you,” she shared, adding that her mindset does not naturally align with heavy PR-driven strategies. She reiterated that faith in one’s craft and staying grounded matters more than constantly chasing attention.

The actor also addressed the intense scrutiny celebrities face from paparazzi and the pressure to always appear camera-ready. Taking a relaxed approach, Rakul said she does not stress too much about being photographed in public.

Sharing a personal anecdote, she mentioned how her mother occasionally teases her for being clicked multiple times in the same outfit. “Sometimes you’re dressed up, sometimes you’re not, and that’s okay,” she said, adding that she believes people should not burden themselves with unnecessary pressure.

On the professional front, Rakul was last seen in De De Pyaar De 2, co-starring Ajay Devgn. The film received mixed responses and reportedly earned around ₹105 crore worldwide, falling short of its reported budget.

Looking ahead, Rakul Preet Singh will next appear in Mudassar Aziz’s upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film is expected to explore modern relationships with the director’s trademark humour.
