Radhika Apte Recalls Being Unable to Leave Home After Intimate Clip Leak: “I Literally Couldn’t Step Out”

Radhika Apte has opened up about the personal and emotional impact of an intimate clip from one of her films being leaked, revealing that the incident left her afraid to leave her home for four days and concerned about her safety.

Radhika Apte Says Leaked Clip Invaded Her Personal Life

Radhika Apte has spoken candidly about the challenges actors can face when intimate scenes from films become part of public discussion beyond their original context.

In an interview with India Today, the actor recalled an incident in which a clip from one of her projects was leaked online. According to Radhika, the episode quickly moved beyond social-media scrutiny and began affecting her everyday life.

“We were talking about being able to do intimate scenes, but once something I had done was leaked, I literally couldn’t step out of the house for four days,” she said.

Radhika explained that the situation became particularly unsettling because the attention reached people around her, including those working at her home.

“The problem is that it can come home very quickly. Your doorbell can ring, and somebody can be outside your house because they felt offended. So, it’s not that easy. It’s much more complicated,” she added.

“My Watchman Had Seen It as Well”

The actor recalled several uncomfortable interactions that followed the leak.

Radhika said her stylist told her that the stylist’s driver repeatedly watched the clip and questioned her about visiting the actor’s home. She also said that her watchman had seen the material.

“My stylist told me that her driver couldn’t stop looking at the clip and kept asking her, ‘You’re going to her house?’ My watchman had seen it as well,” Radhika recalled.

She said these incidents made the situation increasingly difficult to handle, particularly because the leak had entered spaces that she considered personal and private.

Radhika Asked Her Staff to Decide Whether They Could Protect Her

The incident also made Radhika concerned about her physical safety, especially because she was living alone at the time.

The actor said she contacted her driver and spot dada after the leak and asked whether they had seen the clip. She told them that if they were uncomfortable continuing to work with her, she would pay them their salary and allow them to leave.

According to Radhika, both men reassured her that they would stay and protect her.

“And they both said, ‘We will look after you’,” she recalled.

Radhika said their response provided some reassurance at a time when she was particularly frightened.

“I was really scared because I was living alone in an apartment at the time. So yes, it can get quite tricky,” she said.

Radhika Apte Says Fear Once Influenced a Career Decision

Radhika also revealed that an entirely different experience once caused her to turn down a project she genuinely wanted to pursue.

Without identifying the project, she said the decision was influenced by the wider political environment at the time and concerns about the possible consequences for her family.

“There was also a project I really, really wanted to do — I can’t mention which one — but I couldn’t do it because I got very scared,” she said.

Radhika stressed that by “political” she was referring to a broader environment rather than simply electoral politics.

She said the decision was particularly difficult because she had never considered herself someone who allowed fear to dictate her professional choices.

“I was very ashamed because I had never, ever taken a decision based on fear,” she said.

However, she ultimately decided that protecting her family had to take precedence. Radhika said she had heard about certain incidents and that director Anurag also advised her against taking the project.

She clarified that this experience was unrelated to intimacy or sexuality.

Radhika Apte in Lust Stories 3

Radhika is currently part of the cast of Lust Stories 3, the latest instalment in the Netflix anthology franchise.

She appears alongside Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee and Konkona Sen Sharma in filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane’s segment, Husband Swap.

The anthology explores relationships, desire, intimacy and the complications that can emerge within modern partnerships.

India Today praised Radhika and Konkona’s performances in its review, describing both actors as compelling portrayals of women navigating motherhood, marriage and desire.

Lust Stories 3 is currently streaming on Netflix.
