Pony Verma has reflected on her marriage to Prakash Raj, saying his life experience helped him understand her and brought a sense of calm to their relationship.
Speaking to Prema, the choreographer discussed their 12-year age difference, his straightforward approach to commitment and her continuing relationship with his daughters, Pooja and Meghana.
Why she values their age difference
Pony recalled that friends questioned her decision to marry someone 12 years older. She sees the difference positively, saying Prakash understood her background, struggles and outlook.
Her comments describe what worked for their partnership, rather than suggesting that an age gap determines whether a relationship will succeed.
Clear intentions mattered to her
Pony said Prakash did not try to impress her with extravagant gestures. She appreciated his simplicity and honesty.
According to her account, he was clear from the beginning that he wanted a long-term relationship leading to marriage. That directness was an important part of his appeal.
A warm bond with Pooja and Meghana
Pony described an ongoing connection with Prakash’s daughters from his first marriage. She recalled their involvement in the wedding celebrations and said the family continues to gather for important milestones.
She also spoke positively about settling in Hyderabad, a move she had not imagined while living in Mumbai.
The couple married in August 2010
Prakash and Pony married on August 24, 2010. Contemporary coverage described a Punjabi-style ceremony attended by relatives and close friends, including Prakash’s mother and daughters.
Their son, Vedhant, was born in 2016. The couple marked their 16th wedding anniversary in August 2026, when Pony shared a photograph and a message celebrating their years together.
An anniversary celebration their son could witness
In 2021, the couple recreated their wedding during their 11th anniversary celebrations because Vedhant wanted to see his parents get married.
Prakash shared photographs explaining the occasion. Pooja and Meghana were also present, according to reporting at the time. It was a family anniversary celebration—not a marriage to a new partner.
Pony’s latest reflections place the emphasis on understanding, clear expectations and relationships maintained over time. Those details offer more context for their marriage than the age difference alone.
