Alia Bhatt’s food preferences offer a more varied picture than the restrictive menus often associated with celebrity diets. Across earlier interviews, Instagram exchanges and her own videos, she has spoken about enjoying poha, chaas, home-cooked vegetables, French fries and chocolate.
These comments reveal favourite dishes—not a complete account of what she eats each day. Their strongest recurring theme is her affection for familiar food.
Poha and chaas are a favourite combination
In her 2023 YouTube video, 30 Facts as I Turn 30, Bhatt named poha and chaas as the combination she could keep returning to.
“If I had to eat only one thing, it would be poha and chaas,” she said. She also identified makhana as her favourite snack. The remarks describe separate preferences; they do not establish that she routinely eats all three together.
Her favourites include everyday meals and restaurant staples
In a December 2023 Instagram question-and-answer session, Bhatt listed French fries and spaghetti alongside poha and chaas.
Her answer also included a fuller home-style meal: dal chawal with bhindi, tamatar ki sabzi and tadka dahi. The selection moves between cuisines without presenting one as a replacement for another.
A favourite-food list cannot establish portions, frequency or nutritional balance. It does, however, show that her publicly expressed tastes extend beyond salads and specially prepared fitness meals.
Family cooking helps explain the appeal
Bhatt has offered a more direct explanation for her attachment to home cooking.
In a kitchen video covered by Vogue India in 2019, she spoke about enjoying the vegetables and dals her mother prepared. She also described wanting those recipes passed on to the people cooking in her own home.
That account connects her preferences with familiar flavours and family routines. It provides firmer context than assuming her choices are determined by her birthplace or a particular wellness philosophy.
Beetroot salad and chia pudding are part of the picture
The same video featured Bhatt learning to prepare beetroot salad and chia-seed pudding. She discussed eating the pudding for breakfast or as a snack and explained how she used food-labelled fridge magnets to plan meals.
Those details show an interest in the food she enjoys and how it is prepared. They do not establish that the recipes remain part of her current daily routine.
Potatoes and chocolate also make the list
During a 2021 Instagram “True or False” session, Bhatt confirmed that potatoes and chocolate were among her favourites.
She also expressed a preference for homemade Indian food. Asked whether she deliberately skipped breakfast, she said she did not, while noting that she might not eat if she was not hungry. These were personal comments at the time, rather than dietary instructions for followers.
What her food comments actually tell us
The available interviews suggest several overlapping reasons for Bhatt’s preferences: familiar recipes, enjoyment and the practical organisation of meals.
They do not support claims that her daughter introduced her to French fries, that all her food is organic or that these dishes explain her appearance or fitness.
The useful takeaway is a distinction between liking a food and following a prescribed diet. Bhatt’s favourites describe her tastes; they are not a meal plan others need to copy.
