Mumbai: Nani’s much-awaited action drama The Paradise is heading towards its theatrical release, but classification details from overseas have already offered audiences an indication of the film’s intense content.
Directed by Srikanth Odela, The Paradise is scheduled to release on September 24 and marks Nani and Odela’s second collaboration following the success of Dasara. The film has received an A certificate in India, while the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has issued a detailed content advisory highlighting strong violence and several disturbing themes.
The Paradise Receives Strong Violence Warning From BBFC
The BBFC’s published content information indicates that The Paradise contains several sequences involving graphic violence.
The advisory mentions punching, stabbing, slashing and impalement, along with scenes depicting severe injuries, blood and dismemberment.
It also warns viewers about sequences involving severed body parts and graphic injury detail, including exposed flesh and other disturbing imagery.
One particularly prolonged sequence reportedly involves characters being tortured with repeated blows from a heavy object. Another scene features serious burns caused by hot liquid.
The extensive warning indicates that the film’s dark and violent atmosphere extends considerably beyond conventional action-movie violence.
Advisory Also Covers Sexual Violence and Humiliation
The BBFC has also flagged material involving sexual humiliation and violence.
According to the classification information, the film includes a sequence in which a woman is forcibly stripped in front of a crowd. The advisory also refers to threats involving women being sold at an auction and references to sex for money.
These elements contribute to the film’s overall adult classification and reinforce the intense nature of the world created by Srikanth Odela.
Self-Harm and Disturbing Pregnancy-Related Content
The classification information also highlights themes involving self-harm and suicide.
The BBFC advisory reportedly includes references to a suicide attempt, a death by suicide and self-mutilation involving barbed wire.
Pregnancy-related distress is another significant element identified in the content warning. The advisory refers to a heavily pregnant woman being forcibly electrocuted, followed by a traumatic childbirth sequence involving a stillbirth.
Such material may be particularly distressing for some viewers, making the classification information important for audiences who prefer to know about potentially triggering content before watching a film.
The Paradise Gets an A Certificate in India
In India, The Paradise has reportedly received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), restricting theatrical viewing to adult audiences.
The Indian certification and the detailed BBFC advisory both point towards a film that deals with mature and violent material rather than a conventional family-oriented action entertainer.
The film has reportedly been given a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 49 minutes, allowing the filmmakers considerable time to establish its characters and the harsh world in which the story unfolds.
Nani Leads The Paradise Cast
The Paradise reunites Nani with director Srikanth Odela after their previous collaboration, Dasara.
The cast includes Kayadu Lohar, Raghav Juyal, Mohan Babu and Sonali Kulkarni alongside Nani.
The film has been produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri, while Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.
The project is being positioned as a major multilingual release, with its dark visual world and action-driven premise generating considerable anticipation among Nani’s fans.
The Paradise Release Date and Premiere Shows
The Paradise is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 24.
Special premiere screenings are scheduled for September 23, giving some audiences an opportunity to watch the film ahead of its regular theatrical release.
With the film carrying an adult certification in India and a detailed BBFC advisory outlining strong violence and other mature themes, audiences now have a clearer idea of the intensity of Nani and Srikanth Odela’s latest collaboration.
For viewers planning to watch The Paradise, the classification warnings provide important context about the nature of its content.
