A heartwarming wedding celebration in Madhya Pradesh unfortunately turned into a target of online hate, after a newlywed couple was subjected to racist, colourist, and misogynistic trolling on social media. The couple, who had been in a committed relationship for 11 years, finally tied the knot last month—but the joyous moment soon became overshadowed by abusive comments.
Wedding Photos Turn Into Troll Magnet
The couple shared photos and videos from their traditional wedding ceremony, filled with rituals, colours, and emotional moments. But instead of only receiving congratulations, they found their posts flooded with cruel jokes, memes, and derogatory remarks—primarily aimed at the groom’s darker skin tone.
Speaking to Orbit Standard, the groom Rishabh Rajput said,
“People were making jokes and memes and it felt very wrong. It was our moment, we waited so many years for this. I was shocked to see people reacting like this.”
Bride Also Targeted With Misogynistic Remarks
The bride, Sonali Chouksey, also faced online abuse, with some trolls accusing her of marrying for money.

Groom Issues a Powerful Statement
After the online hate intensified, Rishabh posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, clearing misconceptions and defending his relationship.
He wrote,
“Sorry to disappoint you. I am not a government employee. I work hard for my family and want to give them a dignified life. From college till today, she has stood by me in every good and bad moment. People’s negative opinions mean nothing to me.”
Despite the insults, the couple continues to receive strong support from well-wishers defending them against racism and colourism—a reminder of the persistent social biases people still face in India.
