Telugu actor Eesha Rebba, who has been receiving praise for her performance in Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi, has taken legal action after facing online harassment during the film’s promotional campaign.
According to ANI, the actor approached the Banjara Hills Police Station and filed a formal complaint against an individual running a meme or social media account for posting an obscene, sexually explicit and defamatory comment about her on a public platform.
Police Call Comments Disturbing and Derogatory
The Banjara Hills Police described the language used in the post as highly offensive and disturbing, stating that it amounted to mental harassment. Officials noted that such content directly targets a woman’s dignity and can lead to emotional distress and public humiliation.
Authorities further stated that the incident caused the actor significant anxiety and mental trauma, prompting her to seek police intervention. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Eesha Rebba has not yet issued a personal statement on her social media platforms regarding the complaint.
Raising a Larger Conversation on Online Abuse
The incident once again highlights the growing concern around online harassment faced by public figures, particularly women, in the age of social media. Platforms designed for engagement and promotion often become spaces for abuse, with little regard for mental health or personal boundaries.
By choosing to pursue legal action, Eesha Rebba has sent a clear message that online abuse will not be tolerated and that accountability is essential.
