Hanuman Ansh Producer Anupriya Nagar Says Producers Who Rejected Film Are Now Apologising

Hanuman Ansh has emerged as one of the unexpected theatrical success stories of 2026, turning a modestly budgeted devotional film into a major box-office performer.

The film, inspired by the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, reportedly struggled to attract financial backing before its release. At just 21, Anupriya became associated with the film during its post-production phase and witnessed the difficulties the makers faced while trying to secure support.

Before Hanuman Ansh reached theatres, the makers reportedly approached several producers and potential investors for financial support.

According to Anupriya, only a limited number of people were willing to back the project at the time. The film’s relatively small scale made some industry players uncertain about its commercial potential.

Looking back, Anupriya said she understands why some producers chose not to participate. However, the response changed dramatically after the film found an audience in theatres.

‘I Apologise Because This Film Had Come to Us’

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Anupriya revealed that several producers have since reached out to congratulate the team.

She recalled receiving particularly candid messages from people who had previously rejected the project.

“Lots of producers have reached out and it is very sweet. They have congratulated us. Some of them have actually come to me and said, ‘First of all, I apologise because this film had come to us. We are sorry we couldn’t join you. That was the biggest mistake I made’,” Anupriya said.

The producer described the response as a pleasant development following the uncertainty surrounding the film before its theatrical release.

Anupriya Says She Doesn’t Blame Those Who Said No

Despite the dramatic change in circumstances, Anupriya said she does not hold the producers who rejected Hanuman Ansh responsible for their earlier decisions.

From their perspective, she explained, the film was a relatively small project and there was no guarantee that it would attract a large theatrical audience.

The film’s eventual performance has therefore changed the perception surrounding the project, with people who once remained cautious now acknowledging its success.

The commercial turnaround has been particularly striking given the film’s reported production budget of less than Rs 2 crore.
