Fitness influencer and researcher Stephanie Buttermore has passed away at the age of 36. Her fiancé, bodybuilder and fitness educator Jeff Nippard, confirmed the news on Friday, March 6.
A statement shared by Jeff’s team on Instagram announced Stephanie’s passing. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
“It is with profound sorrow that we share the sudden passing of Jeff’s fiancée and partner of ten years, Stephanie,” the statement read. “As many of you know, Stephanie meant the world to Jeff.”
The message also paid tribute to her character and achievements, noting that she would be remembered for her kindness, compassion and dedication to her work, including her PhD research focused on ovarian cancer.

A Celebrated Voice in the Fitness Community
Stephanie Buttermore was widely known in the online fitness community for her educational content and honest discussions about body image, nutrition and health. She built a large following on YouTube, where her channel attracted more than one million subscribers, while her Instagram account had over 500,000 followers.
Through her videos and social media posts, she often encouraged women to embrace body positivity and develop healthier relationships with food through intuitive nutrition.
In May 2024, Stephanie announced that she would be stepping away from social media. At the time, she shared that anxiety had been affecting her deeply and described it as “crippling.” After taking a break, she said her mental health had improved significantly.

Beyond her online presence, Stephanie was also a respected cancer research scientist. She earned a PhD in pathology and cell biology, focusing on the molecular mechanisms that drive ovarian cancer progression.

A Decade-Long Relationship
Stephanie and Jeff had been together for more than a decade. The couple announced their engagement in October 2022.
Her passing came just days after she celebrated her birthday on February 25. Less than two weeks before the celebration, Jeff had posted a Valentine’s Day photo of the couple smiling together with the caption: “Relationshipmaxxing with tea time to lower cortisol levels.”
