Television actor Dipika Kakar has once again become the subject of public discussion—not for her acting career, but for a deeply personal decision she made years ago. In a recent interview, veteran television actor Jayati Bhatia addressed long-standing speculation surrounding Dipika’s conversion to Islam, stating that it was not a condition for her marriage to actor Shoaib Ibrahim.

The clarification comes as Dipika continues to focus on her recovery following her ongoing treatment for liver cancer while remaining connected with fans through social media and YouTube updates.

Jayati Bhatia Shares Why Dipika Chose to Convert

Speaking in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Jayati Bhatia revealed that she had personally asked Dipika about her decision to embrace Islam.

According to Jayati, Dipika explained that her choice was influenced by a difficult phase in her life rather than any pressure related to marriage. Jayati recalled that Dipika had visited the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, where she experienced a sense of peace and spiritual strength.

Jayati said Dipika felt emotionally supported through prayer and eventually chose to embrace Islam as a matter of personal faith. She emphasized that the decision was entirely Dipika’s own and should be respected as an individual’s religious choice.

Conversion Was Not Linked to Marriage

For years, social media discussions have claimed that Dipika converted to Islam to marry Shoaib Ibrahim. Jayati Bhatia’s remarks challenge that narrative.

She explained that Dipika is someone who gives complete dedication to every aspect of her life and approached her relationship with Shoaib in the same way. However, Jayati stressed that Dipika herself denied converting because of marriage, describing it instead as a personal spiritual journey.

Neither Dipika Kakar nor Shoaib Ibrahim has recently issued a new statement regarding the matter.

Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim’s Relationship

Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim first met while working on the television drama Sasural Simar Ka. Their friendship gradually developed into a relationship, and the couple married in 2018 in Bhopal after dating for several years.

Before marrying Shoaib, Dipika was married to Raunak Samson. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2015.

Following her marriage to Shoaib, several reports claimed that Dipika had adopted the name Faiza Ibrahim. However, the actor continues to be publicly known and professionally recognized as Dipika Kakar.

The couple welcomed their son, Ruhaan, in 2023.

Dipika Kakar Continues Cancer Recovery

Apart from discussions about her personal life, Dipika has been open about her health journey.

She has previously shared that she is undergoing treatment for Stage 2 liver cancer. Over the past year, she has documented parts of her treatment and recovery through YouTube vlogs and social media posts, keeping her followers informed.

According to updates shared by Shoaib Ibrahim, Dipika underwent surgery to remove a liver tumour in 2025. Later medical evaluations reportedly detected additional liver cysts, leading to further treatment and infusion sessions.

The couple has also shared that her treatment plan currently includes immunotherapy under medical supervision. While Dipika continues regular follow-ups, they have indicated that her doctors have not advised any major surgery at this stage.

Respecting Personal Faith

Religious belief and conversion are deeply personal matters. While public figures often face scrutiny over private decisions, Jayati Bhatia’s comments underline that Dipika Kakar’s choice was, according to her account, rooted in personal faith rather than external obligation.
