Dushara Vijayan Remembers Late Sister Who Inspired Her Love for Dance: “I Miss Her”

Dushara Vijayan has opened up about the lasting influence of her late elder sister, recalling how her sibling encouraged her to dance despite living with a lifelong condition that left her paralysed from the neck down.

Tamil actress Dushara Vijayan has shared an emotional memory about her late elder sister and the important role she played in shaping Dushara’s passion for dance.

During a recent interview with SS Music, conducted as part of the promotional campaign for her latest film G.D.N., Dushara spoke about the bond she shared with her sister and the memories she continues to carry with her.

“I miss her,” Dushara said while recalling her sister. She added that when she goes out, she sometimes looks at her sister’s photograph and prays.

Dushara Vijayan Says Her Sister Inspired Her to Dance

Dushara revealed that her interest in dance developed at a young age partly because of her sister.

According to the actress, her sister had lived with myopathy since birth and could not walk. The condition affected her body from the neck downward, while she remained able to communicate and interact normally.

Dushara explained that her sister would sit in a wheelchair and encourage her to experiment with different movements and styles of dance.

Her sister’s encouragement became an important part of Dushara’s childhood and helped nurture an interest that later became one of the actress’s defining creative pursuits.

The actress recalled how her sister would suggest different ways for her to move and dance, making her sibling an indirect but significant influence on her artistic journey.

“I Was Extremely Close to My Sister”

Dushara spoke candidly about the emotional connection she shared with her elder sister.

She revealed that she has two elder sisters, Leepika and Durga, and that her second elder sister died around a decade ago after living with myopathy.

Despite the passage of time, Dushara said the memories of their relationship remain deeply important to her.

The actress also described how her family supported her sister with everyday activities because of her physical limitations.

For Dushara, however, her sister was much more than someone who needed assistance. She was also a source of encouragement and inspiration during her formative years.

Dushara Talks About Her Younger Brother

During the same interview, Dushara also discussed her relationship with her younger brother.

She said that the two lived together in Chennai for approximately seven years. Describing the relationship, Dushara explained that she had taken on a protective role in his life and often felt more like a parent than a sibling.

The actress described her younger brother as being almost like her own child, highlighting the strong sense of responsibility and affection within their family.
