Mumbai: Bollywood legend Dharmendra, who passed away at the age of 89, has gifted his ancestral property worth Rs 5 crore to his nephews, according to a report by Dainik Bhaskar. The gesture was aimed at ensuring the security and well-being of his nephews and their families.
Born in Nasrali with ancestral roots in Dango, Ludhiana, Dharmendra maintained a deep emotional connection to his hometown throughout his life. During his early years, he lived in a modest home built from mud and bricks, which is still preserved and looked after by his relatives.
Even after establishing a stellar career in Mumbai, Dharmendra frequently returned to his native village. In 2013, following a film shoot, he visited Dango, touching the soil of his courtyard to his forehead—a gesture reflecting his enduring bond with the place.
In 2025, he officially transferred the property to his nephews, who had been caring for the home in his absence. Villagers and family members praised the actor for his selfless act. Boota Singh, one of his nephews who works at a textile mill in Ludhiana, fondly remembered the actor. Another relative noted that Dharmendra never valued the property for its market worth, but cherished it as a symbol of home.
