Celina Jaitly Reacts to Twisha Sharma Case, Says “Marriage Is Not Always Happily Ever After”

Actor Celina Jaitly has expressed grief over the death of Twisha Sharma and shared a deeply personal message reflecting on abuse, isolation, and the realities of marriage.

The actor took to Instagram on Sunday, saying that the case has shaken the entire country and raised difficult questions about what often happens behind closed doors in relationships.

Celina Jaitly Calls Case “Heartbreaking”

In her post, Celina described Twisha Sharma as a young, educated, and talented woman whose life, according to her, was marked by emotional distress and suffering.

She wrote that even as the victim’s family continues to seek answers, the tragedy highlights how abuse can often go unnoticed or unacknowledged.

Celina added that in many cases, a woman’s pain is normalised to the point where it is no longer taken seriously by those around her.

Reflecting on broader societal issues, Celina wrote that marriage is not always a “happily ever after” story.

She highlighted that abuse is not always physical and can take many forms, including:

She noted that such conditions can make victims feel trapped, unheard, and increasingly isolated over time.

Celina Shares Personal Experience

In her post, Celina also referred to her own ongoing personal struggles, stating that she understands emotional isolation and difficult marital circumstances.

She said she stayed longer in a difficult situation due to personal and family reasons, including financial dependence and concern for her children.

Celina also mentioned that many women remain in similar situations due to fear, shame, or lack of support systems.

Addressing families and society, Celina urged parents and friends to support women who reach out for help.

She wrote that families should not ignore signs of distress and should help bring their daughters back if they are facing abuse.

The Twisha Sharma case has drawn national attention following allegations of dowry harassment and abetment to suicide made by her family.

Her last rites were performed recently after a second postmortem conducted by AIIMS Delhi following a High Court order.
