Bhumi Pednekar brought Indian couture to the international runway as she made her New York Fashion Week debut as the showstopper for Nazranaa’s SS27 collection, Samskriti 2.0.
The actor closed the show in a striking deep-red velvet lehenga inspired by the architecture and spiritual philosophy of Belur Math in West Bengal. Nazranaa shared a video from the runway on Instagram, describing Bhumi as the showstopper and calling her outfit the “Belur Math Lehenga.”
Far from being a conventional bridal-inspired ensemble, the creation was designed around symbolism, craftsmanship and the idea of unity through diversity.

The inspiration for the ensemble comes from the Shri Ramakrishna Temple at Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

The Shri Ramakrishna Temple is particularly known for architectural elements that draw from different religious traditions.
That idea of harmony and multiple paths to the divine became the foundation for Nazranaa’s design.
The designer translated elements of the temple and its philosophy into embroidery, motifs and symbolic details, creating a traditional Indian silhouette with a story that could travel far beyond its original setting.
The Regal Red Velvet Lehenga
Bhumi’s deep-red lehenga was crafted in velvet and covered with intricate hand embroidery in silver. The combination gave the outfit a rich, regal appearance while allowing the architectural inspiration to remain central to the design.
One of the most significant details appeared at the centre of the skirt: a swan motif.

Instead of styling the outfit with a conventional dupatta, Bhumi wore a delicate net veil that wrapped around her arms as she walked down the runway.
