Bengaluru: A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his live-in partner after a dispute reportedly escalated at their rented residence in Bengaluru’s Malleswaram area.
According to police officials, the victim, identified as Anusha (20), and the accused, Sharath (27), were originally from Sakleshpur in Karnataka’s Hassan district. The couple had reportedly been living together in a rented accommodation in Malleswaram for approximately six months before the incident.
How the Case Unfolded
Preliminary information gathered by investigators suggests that the couple initially became acquainted through social media and later entered into a relationship. Over time, they reportedly decided to live together in Bengaluru.
Police sources indicate that an argument between the two allegedly intensified on Saturday night. Investigators believe the disagreement may have been related to personal issues, although authorities have not yet disclosed specific details.
During the course of the altercation, Sharath allegedly strangled Anusha, resulting in her death. Officials say the exact sequence of events is still being verified as part of the ongoing investigation.
Crime Discovered After Information Reached Police
The case came to light on Monday after the accused allegedly disclosed details of the incident to his lawyer.
Following the information, the lawyer reportedly informed law enforcement authorities. Officers from Seshadripuram Police Station immediately reached the location, where they recovered the victim’s body and began investigative procedures.
The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination as investigators collected evidence from the scene.
Accused Arrested
Police have confirmed that a criminal case has been registered and the accused has been taken into custody.
Investigators are currently questioning Sharath to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident and determine the precise motive behind the alleged crime.
