Yash has opened up about the decision to move Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups away from its planned clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, saying the decision was driven by self-respect rather than fear of losing money at the box office.

Yash has addressed the much-discussed release-date clash between his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

During his appearance on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat, the actor explained why Toxic was eventually moved from its original March 19, 2026 release date. He also dismissed the idea that the possibility of losing ₹100 crore or ₹200 crore at the box office influenced his decision.

For Yash, the bigger concern was whether he had delivered the film he had promised audiences.

Yash says he never deliberately chose a box-office clash

Toxic was initially scheduled to arrive in theatres on March 19, 2026, the same day as Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

Yash clarified that he does not view such situations as deliberate clashes when his film’s release date has already been announced.

He explained that his date had been announced first and that another film arriving on the same date subsequently created the clash.

According to the actor, he was himself uncertain about what to do when Toxic was scheduled for March 19.

The situation eventually resulted in the makers moving the film’s release.

Yash says losing ₹200 crore was not his concern

One of the strongest points Yash made during the conversation was that financial loss does not frighten him in the way some people might assume.

He said:

“Zindagi mein mujhe khone ka kuch hai hi nahin, toh mujhe dar hai hi nahin.”

The actor went on to address speculation that losing ₹100 crore or ₹200 crore because of a difficult release situation could significantly affect him.

He said that he had started with very little and that whatever he has achieved since then is a gain.

For Yash, therefore, the possibility of a lower box-office collection was not enough reason to compromise on what he believed was important for the film.

Yash’s real fear was failing the audience

While money was not his primary concern, Yash said he did have one major fear: not delivering the film he had promised viewers.

He explained that the responsibility was to ensure that the product coming from his side was good enough.

The actor’s comments underline the importance he places on the quality of the finished film rather than simply protecting its opening-day or opening-weekend numbers.

For Yash, a disappointing film would be a bigger setback than a potentially weaker box-office result caused by the release calendar.

‘It was self-respect, not ego’

Yash also drew a clear distinction between ego and self-respect when explaining the decision to move Toxic.

He said that refusing to move the film simply to protect his image or prove something would have been an act of ego.

Instead, he described the eventual decision to change the release plan as “self-respect”.

His reasoning was that he did not want the film’s release to become an exercise in proving who could win a clash.

The distinction is significant because high-profile release-date clashes often become part of the publicity surrounding major Indian films, with discussions shifting from the movies themselves to their opening numbers and perceived box-office victories.

Toxic’s release date changed more than once

Toxic was initially scheduled for March 19, 2026.

The makers subsequently moved the film to June 4, with uncertainty in the Middle East cited at the time as a factor behind the change.

The film was later postponed again, with a new release date yet to be announced according to the information surrounding Yash’s interview.

The repeated changes have kept the film’s theatrical schedule under considerable attention.

Dhurandhar became a major box-office success

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar went on to become one of the biggest Hindi blockbusters, reportedly earning more than ₹1,300 crore worldwide.

Its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, released on March 19, 2026, the date on which Toxic had originally been scheduled to arrive.

Current trade estimates cited in the source material put the sequel’s worldwide collection at more than ₹1,800 crore.

The eventual performance of the Dhurandhar films has inevitably added another dimension to discussions about what might have happened had Toxic retained its original release date.

However, Yash’s comments suggest that his decision was not based on attempting to predict or avoid the eventual success of the Ranveer Singh starrer.

Yash remains focused on what Toxic delivers

For Yash, the central question remains whether Toxic fulfils the expectations created around the project.

The film is among his most anticipated releases following the enormous success of the KGF franchise.

Rather than treating the box office as the only measure of success, his latest comments suggest that he is placing considerable importance on the film’s execution and his responsibility towards the audience.

With a new theatrical release date still awaited, Toxic continues to generate interest among Yash’s fans and the wider Indian film audience.

When the film eventually arrives, its box-office performance will inevitably be compared with the major releases around it. But Yash’s latest comments make his position clear: for him, protecting the film and delivering on his promise mattered more than proving that he could win a release-date battle.
