Vivek Oberoi Gets Emotional as Adopted Daughter Sahara Shah Announces Acting Debut

Cancer survivor Sahara Shah surprised her father Vivek Oberoi at a Mumbai cancer-awareness event by announcing that she is set to make her acting debut in a Nepali film, leaving the actor visibly emotional.

Sahara Shah Announces Her First Film

Vivek Oberoi shared an emotional moment with his adopted daughter Sahara Shah at the Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) Cancer Rose Day event in Mumbai.

Now 22, Sahara announced at the event that she is preparing to enter the film industry with a lead role in a Nepali movie. She said the film is expected to release next year and that she wanted Vivek’s blessings before embarking on the new chapter.

“I’m playing a lead actress in a film. It’s a Nepali film. I haven’t signed yet. I wanted to take your blessing. You’ve been a huge part of my life,” Sahara said.

She also spoke about growing up watching Vivek and being inspired by his career.

“I’ve seen you since I was a child, and I always wanted to follow in your footsteps. I’m not even halfway there. I don’t think I’ll be able to reach any place you are in,” she added.

Sahara is also trained in aviation and has been working towards a career as a commercial pilot.

Sahara Thanks Vivek for Supporting Her Dreams

Sahara, who affectionately calls Vivek her “dada”, credited him with encouraging her to pursue her interests.

“You’ve always supported me when it came to acting, dancing, and whatever I wanted to do. That gave me so much conviction to dream big for me and my mum,” she said.

She described her aspirations as a distant dream given her family’s circumstances and thanked Vivek for helping make them possible.

“Gifting this to you feels like such a small thing because it’s nothing compared to what you’ve done for me. It’s all been possible because of you. There’s so much love and affection for you. I’m so overwhelmed,” Sahara said.

Vivek became emotional as he embraced Sahara. He also unveiled the poster associated with her upcoming film and expressed his pride in her decision to pursue acting.

Vivek Oberoi Recalls Sahara’s Childhood Cancer Battle

The announcement carried particular significance because Vivek has supported Sahara since her childhood cancer diagnosis.

According to the event account, Vivek adopted Sahara when she was around two-and-a-half years old and subsequently introduced her to the CPAA, an organisation that supports underprivileged cancer patients.

Recalling the early years of her treatment, Vivek said he remembered seeing the young Sahara undergoing chemotherapy.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am. I’m crying with pride. I saw this two-and-a-half-year-old girl with red eyes and a pale face undergoing chemotherapy while fighting cancer,” he said.

He recalled the impression she made on him even at that young age.

“I saw the fight in her. The way she held my finger, I knew she would win. I used to pray for her every day,” Vivek added.

The actor said he was particularly proud to see Sahara now cancer-free and pursuing her ambitions.

“Today, she is cancer-free, and she’s reaping the rewards of her hard work. I’m so proud of her,” he said.

Vivek Oberoi’s Family and Cancer-Welfare Work

Vivek is married to Priyanka Alva, and the couple have two children, son Vivaan Veer Oberoi and daughter Ameyaa Nirvana Oberoi.

Beyond his family, the actor has also been associated with efforts supporting children affected by cancer, including assistance related to treatment and education.

His association with Sahara and the CPAA has remained part of that broader connection to cancer-awareness initiatives.

Vivek Oberoi’s Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Vivek Oberoi was recently seen in Rohit Shetty’s OTT action series Indian Police Force and the comedy film Mastiii 4.

He is also preparing for his role in Nitesh Tiwari’s multi-part epic Ramayana. The actor is additionally set to appear in Vishal Ranjan Mishra’s Grey, which features Nithya Menen and Ashish Vidyarthi.
