The trailer of ** Udta Teer ** has arrived, offering a glimpse into an action-packed comedy built around espionage, mistaken identity and an increasingly chaotic situation.

Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles, the film is directed by Akash A Kaushik and is scheduled to release in theatres across India on October 9, 2026.

The trailer combines spy-thriller action with comedy, political satire and fourth-wall-breaking humour.

Ayushmann Khurrana Plays a Pakistani Spy With Amnesia

At the centre of Udta Teer is Bilal, played by Ayushmann Khurrana.

Bilal is a Pakistani intelligence operative who suffers memory loss following a blast. When he regains consciousness, he believes himself to be an officer working with India’s Counter-Terrorism Squad (CTS).

The situation becomes increasingly complicated when Bilal begins behaving like an Indian officer, while his handlers in Pakistan attempt to figure out how to deal with the unexpected turn of events.

The trailer uses the identity mix-up as the film’s central source of comedy, with Bilal’s new understanding of himself colliding with the reality of his actual background.

Sara Ali Khan Joins the Espionage Chaos

Sara Ali Khan plays a fellow CTS officer who becomes part of Bilal’s unusual journey.

Her character is unaware of Bilal’s actual identity, setting up a series of situations where the audience knows more about his past than the characters around him.

The trailer also gives Sara a role within the film’s action-comedy setup, as the story moves between spy missions, confrontations and increasingly absurd circumstances.

The film marks another collaboration between Ayushmann and Sara following their appearance in ** Pati Patni Aur Woh Do **.

Action, Satire and Fourth-Wall-Breaking Comedy

While Udta Teer uses the structure of a spy thriller, the trailer makes it clear that the film does not take the genre entirely seriously.

There are glimpses of train fights, explosions and action sequences, alongside jokes that directly play with conventional spy-movie tropes.

Bilal’s transformation into an apparently hyper-patriotic Indian officer adds another layer to the mistaken-identity premise, while the reactions of his Pakistani handlers provide another source of humour.

The trailer also incorporates fourth-wall-breaking moments and political satire, suggesting that the film intends to parody familiar conventions of espionage cinema rather than simply deliver a conventional spy story.

Akash A Kaushik Makes Directorial Debut

Udta Teer marks the directorial debut of writer Akash A Kaushik.

Kaushik has previously been associated with Hindi-film writing, and the upcoming film gives him an opportunity to move behind the camera with a large ensemble and a genre that combines comedy and action.

The film’s visual presentation, coupled with an energetic soundtrack from Sachin-Jigar, adds to its fast-paced tone.

Udta Teer Has a Large Supporting Cast

The film features a sizeable supporting ensemble, including Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe.

Their characters are expected to add further layers to the film’s espionage-driven chaos.

Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment Reunite

Udta Teer also marks another collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.

The two production houses have previously worked together on projects including ** Kill (2024), Gyaarah Gyaarah (2024)** and the acclaimed ** The Lunchbox (2013)**.

The upcoming film is jointly produced by Karan Johar, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain.

With Ayushmann Khurrana at the centre of an identity-swapping spy story and Sara Ali Khan joining the action-comedy setup, Udta Teer is gearing up for its theatrical release on October 9, 2026.
