Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s The Vvaan witnessed a noticeable rise in collections on its second day at the box office. The Deepak Kumar Mishra-directed mythological fantasy reportedly earned around ₹11 crore net in India on Day 2, according to figures cited from Sacnilk.

The film had opened at approximately ₹8 crore net on Friday, taking its estimated two-day India net collection to ₹19 crore.

The second-day growth suggests that the film benefited from increased weekend footfall. Sunday collections will be important in determining whether the movie can maintain the momentum generated on Saturday.

  • Morning: 16.54%
  • Afternoon: 38.38%
  • Evening: 38.92%
  • Night: 54.92%

The strongest average occupancy was reported in Chennai, followed by Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai.

The progression from the morning shows to the night shows indicates stronger audience turnout later in the day.

What is The Vvaan about?

The Vvaan follows Rishi Kumar, played by Sidharth Malhotra, who belongs to Devanchal but lives in Mumbai with his wife Mamta, portrayed by Tamannaah Bhatia.

Rishi works as a builder, while Mamta is a school teacher. The couple hopes to have a child and is considering IVF after other attempts to conceive have not worked.

Their plans are disrupted when Rishi receives a notice concerning his family’s land in Devanchal. He decides to return to the village and sell the property to help fund the treatment.

The couple travels back during the Chhath Puja period, but their visit takes an unexpected turn when strange incidents begin occurring around the forbidden Dev Van.

Rishi, who is portrayed as an atheist, initially questions the traditions and beliefs surrounding the place. His investigation eventually draws him into a larger mystery involving his family’s past and the events unfolding in the village.

The Vvaan faces the Sunday test

With the film reaching an estimated ₹19 crore net after two days, Sunday becomes an important test for its first-weekend performance.

The increase from ₹8 crore on Friday to an estimated ₹11 crore on Saturday gives the film a stronger weekend trajectory. However, its long-term box office performance will depend on how well it holds after the opening weekend.

The Vvaan had also faced a delay of nearly a year before its theatrical release. Despite mixed critical reactions, the film has managed to attract audiences during its opening weekend.

The Vvaan and Sidharth Malhotra’s recent box office record

The film’s opening weekend is also being closely watched in the context of Sidharth Malhotra’s recent theatrical releases.

The Vvaan has recorded stronger initial business than several of his recent films, including Jabariya Jodi, Marjaavaan, Thank God, Yodha and Param Sundari, based on the opening figures cited for those titles.

However, comparisons between films can be affected by factors such as release size, ticket prices, screen count, competition and release timing. The final assessment of The Vvaan will therefore depend on its full theatrical run rather than its first two days alone.

Box office disclaimer

The figures cited in this report are estimated trade/industry tracking figures and may be revised. India net, India gross and worldwide gross figures should not be treated as audited or certified collections unless officially confirmed. Occupancy figures are also tracking estimates and can vary across reporting platforms.
