Sobhita said women are often expected to meet several different standards and stressed that everyone responds to public criticism differently.

Katrina Kaif has been at the centre of an online discussion surrounding her appearance following the birth of her son Vihaan in November 2025. The actor has largely kept a low profile since becoming a mother, but a recent public appearance prompted comments about her postpartum appearance on social media.

Several celebrities have since spoken against the scrutiny. Sobhita Dhulipala has now addressed the broader issue of public criticism of women, saying there is no single way in which people respond to such attention.

Speaking at a recent NDTV event, Sobhita was asked about the expectations placed on women in the entertainment industry in the context of the discussion surrounding Katrina.

Sobhita pointed out that women are often expected to embody multiple qualities at the same time and said different people deal with public criticism in different ways.

“Women are expected to be strong, women are expected to be sensitive, women are expected to be many things. And different women handle things differently, so there is no generic rule.”

She added:

“Like when you say that public criticism is disappointing, I am sure it can be for many people; we are all human. We just deal with it in a way that makes sense for us.”

Her comments came as the conversation around Katrina’s postpartum appearance continued online.

Salman Khan also reacts to comments about Katrina

Earlier, Salman Khan addressed the discussion during Weekend Ka Vaar on Bigg Boss 20.

He questioned why a woman should be subjected to scrutiny over her weight or appearance shortly after giving birth. Salman also spoke about the physical changes that can accompany pregnancy and said Katrina should have the freedom to spend time with her family after becoming a mother.

“Pregnant hone ke baad everyone puts on weight,” Salman said during the episode, adding that Katrina could work on her fitness when she returned to films.

His comments were directed at the broader discussion around the pressure faced by women following pregnancy and childbirth.

Parineeti Chopra and other celebrities speak up

Parineeti Chopra, who also became a mother recently, has previously criticised comments about women’s bodies after childbirth. She described such commentary as uninformed and highlighted the physical changes associated with pregnancy and giving birth.

Shivaleeka Oberoi has also spoken out against the criticism directed at Katrina.

The reactions have brought renewed attention to the expectations placed on actresses to maintain a particular appearance even during major personal transitions.

Katrina Kaif has not addressed the discussion

Despite the continuing conversation online and comments from several celebrities, Katrina Kaif has not publicly responded to the discussion in the information currently available.

Katrina and Vicky Kaushal welcomed their son Vihaan in November 2025 and have generally kept their family life private.

Sobhita’s comments, meanwhile, focus on the wider issue of how women experience and respond to public scrutiny rather than prescribing a particular response to criticism.
