Fashion designer and television personality Seema Sajdeh has opened up about her decision to try a collagen-stimulating cosmetic treatment at 50, sharing the experience in a video on her YouTube channel. Explaining her approach to ageing and skincare, she joked, “Can’t be a budhiya,” while discussing the treatment with Mumbai-based cosmetologist Dr Harshna Bijlani.
Seema has recently been giving viewers a closer look at her personal life through her YouTube videos, which have included visits to her family’s pre-Partition home in Amritsar, updates on her new house in Mumbai, shopping outings with friend Neelam Kothari and travel vlogs.
In her latest video, she documented her experience with Sculptra, a treatment that uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) to stimulate the body’s collagen production. The procedure is used in certain cosmetic settings to address facial volume loss, with results developing gradually rather than appearing immediately.
Why Seema Sajdeh Chose Sculptra at 50
Before undergoing the procedure, Seema said she had researched the treatment and even asked ChatGPT about its reported success rate. According to her account in the video, she came across a figure of 76.6% for patient satisfaction and hoped she would experience a positive result.
Seema made it clear that she was approaching the procedure as a personal choice. She also acknowledged that people may have different opinions about cosmetic treatments.
“I will try everything. It’s a personal choice. These treatments are available in the market, but you must consult your doctor before trying anything,” she said.
She added, “Don’t judge me, but if you do, I don’t care.”
Her comments reflected her willingness to discuss a beauty treatment openly rather than keep the experience private.
What Happened During Seema’s Sculptra Procedure?
In the video, a numbing cream was applied to Seema’s face and left on for approximately 45 minutes before she met Dr Harshna Bijlani for the treatment.
The cosmetologist assessed and mapped Seema’s face before administering the injections. During their discussion, the doctor explained that the treatment plan and dilution would be adjusted to suit Seema’s skin and individual requirements.
Seema was also informed that some swelling could occur for a few days after the procedure. According to the doctor’s instructions in the video, she would need to massage the treated areas five times a day.
The cosmetologist explained that a single session might not achieve the desired outcome and that additional sessions could be considered four to six weeks later, depending on the treatment plan and response.
After administering the injections, Dr Bijlani discussed the recommended massage technique and the importance of following aftercare instructions to help reduce the risk of lumps and nodules.
“You will notice a difference. The quality of your skin will feel different. Sculptra helps regenerate collagen and elastin. By the end of a month, you will feel even better,” the doctor said in the video.
What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable treatment made with poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible synthetic material that stimulates collagen production. Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, which provide volume through the injected gel, Sculptra works gradually as the body responds to the treatment.
The results can take weeks or months to develop, and the number of sessions required varies by individual. Outcomes are not guaranteed, and the treatment is not suitable for everyone.
Potential side effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness and the development of lumps or nodules. Rare but serious complications can also occur with injectable cosmetic procedures. Anyone considering Sculptra should consult a qualified medical professional who can assess their suitability, explain the risks and provide appropriate aftercare instructions.
Although Seema described her own experience with numbing cream, pain levels can vary from person to person. Her account should not be taken as a guarantee that the procedure will be painless.
Fans React to Seema’s Candid Beauty Conversation
Seema’s video also prompted supportive responses from viewers who appreciated her willingness to talk openly about cosmetic procedures.
One viewer wrote, “This is so refreshing. People from Bollywood are actually opening up and talking about what they do for their skin.”
Another commented, “I feel proud when I see women like you.”
A third viewer shared, “I don’t think I’m brave enough to do this, even though I would love to look ageless. You do you, girl.”
Another comment read, “Your skin, your body, your choice.”
