Samyuktha Says “I Am a Director’s Actor”, Reflects on Success and Career Growth

Actor Samyuktha, known for her performances in Bheemla Nayak, Virupaksha, Kaduva, Bimbisara, and Vaathi, recently appeared at a TEDx event at VNR VJIET, where she spoke about her journey and perspective on cinema.

The experience marked a departure from her usual film-related appearances. She shared that stepping onto the stage allowed her to reconnect with thoughts and emotions she had not expressed publicly in years.

According to Samyuktha, the opportunity to speak beyond promotions felt refreshing, as it involved deeper, more personal reflections rather than routine industry interactions.

Redefining Success

Reflecting on her early career, she explained that she once believed a single successful film could transform everything. However, after experiencing both major successes and setbacks, her outlook evolved.

She noted that relying on highs and lows can be unstable, and over time she learned to value consistent growth and the process itself rather than chasing milestones.

Learning Through Diverse Cinema

Working across multiple industries has helped her understand people and emotions better. She believes that exposure to different cultures enhances an actor’s ability to portray characters authentically.

She emphasized that observing and interacting with people plays a crucial role in refining her craft.

Describing her approach, Samyuktha stated that she considers herself a director’s actor. She adapts her performance based on the director’s vision, whether the filmmaking style is structured or allows room for improvisation.

She explained that every scene has a rhythm, and it is the actor’s responsibility to align with the overall narrative envisioned by the director.

Choosing Roles with Purpose

When selecting projects, she focuses on whether she can fully understand and connect with the character. If the emotional clarity is missing, she prefers not to take up the role.

She also highlighted that her decisions are no longer driven by scale or numbers, but by how strongly she feels about the character and the story.

Upcoming Projects

Samyuktha has several upcoming films that reflect her versatility. She will appear in Swayambhu, a historical project where she plays a warrior, as well as The Black Gold, which she describes as a character-driven film.

Her lineup also includes Slumdog – 33 Temple Road with Vijay Sethupathi and director Puri Jagannadh. In addition, she is part of Benz in Tamil and Haindava in Telugu.
