A short pandemic getaway became a permanent move for the actor, who says community and a slower pace have shaped her family’s life.
Sameera Reddy has reflected on making Goa her home, saying the move has supported her creativity and given her family a strong connection with the local community.
In an interview with Goa Times, published by The Times of India on October 23, the actor recalled arriving with her husband, Akshai Varde, and their children for a ten-day break during the pandemic. What followed was an unplanned decision to stay. The family has since bought a house in the state.
A different rhythm for work and family
Sameera rejected the suggestion that living away from Mumbai had necessarily restricted her professional opportunities. She said Goa’s slower rhythm had strengthened her creativity and contributed to her sense of stability.
Her account presents the relocation as a personal choice that has worked for her family. It does not establish that moving away from a major city produces the same professional or personal outcome for everyone.
Respecting the community that welcomed her
The actor also emphasised the importance of respecting local culture. She spoke about trying to learn Konkani and expressed gratitude for the welcome her family had received.
For Sameera, belonging appears rooted in relationships and participation in everyday life, rather than simply enjoying a destination as a visitor.
“Goa is home”
Sameera acknowledged missing relatives in Mumbai while describing Goa as a place she continues to discover.
“Goa is home,” she told the publication.
Her reflections centre on the life her family has built there: a lasting connection with a place that initially offered only a temporary escape.
