Sai Pallavi has revealed a conversation with Yash about whether he would return to the smaller romantic films that marked an earlier phase of his career. According to the actress, Yash explained that he wants to use the scale of his projects to take Kannada, South Indian and Indian cinema to a global audience.
The exchange took place while the two actors were working on Ramayana, the upcoming epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Yash plays Ravana in the film, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita and Ranbir Kapoor essays the role of Rama.
Recalling their conversation during promotional events in Hyderabad, Sai Pallavi said she had asked Yash whether he would consider making smaller love stories again.
“I asked Yash if he’ll ever come back to making small cute love stories,” she said.
Yash reportedly replied, “I want to make my films big because I have the opportunity, and at the same time, I want to present Kannada and my South Indian and Indian cinema to the world.”
His response reflects the ambition behind his move towards large-scale productions and projects designed to reach audiences beyond regional markets.
From Romantic Entertainers to Pan-Indian Blockbusters
Before becoming widely recognised for the KGF franchise, Yash appeared in Kannada films that explored romance, comedy and everyday relationships. Titles such as Googly, Mr and Mrs Ramachari and Kirataka helped establish his popularity among Kannada-speaking audiences.
His career took a major turn with KGF: Chapter 1, directed by Prashanth Neel. The film attracted attention across India and helped establish Yash as a leading name in pan-Indian cinema.
The sequel, KGF: Chapter 2, expanded that reach further, becoming a major box-office success and strengthening the franchise’s position in the Indian film industry.
Since then, Yash has continued to pursue projects with ambitious scale and distinctive creative concepts. He is also associated with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas.
His casting as Ravana in Ramayana marks another significant step in a career increasingly associated with large productions and stories intended for a broad audience.
Yash Takes on Ravana in Ramayana
In Ramayana, Yash steps into the role of Ravana, one of the central figures in the Indian epic. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film brings together a high-profile cast and an ambitious production team. Yash is also involved behind the scenes as a co-producer through his banner, Monster Mind Creations.
The project is associated with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, DNEG and Monster Mind Creations. Its reported budget of ₹4,000 crore has drawn considerable attention, although the final production cost should be confirmed through an official statement before publication.
Yash’s involvement as both an actor and producer makes the project particularly significant in the context of his stated ambition to bring Indian cinema to a worldwide audience.
Ramayana Release Plans and Premiere
Ramayana is reported to be scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026. A premiere at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles has also been reported for October 27, ahead of the planned theatrical release.
These dates and the premiere details should be checked against official announcements before publication.
With Yash playing Ravana, Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the major talking points in Indian cinema. Sai Pallavi’s account of her conversation with Yash adds another dimension to the project, offering insight into the actor’s ambition to use large-scale filmmaking to showcase Indian cinema internationally.
