Sahher Bambba’s Bollywood journey began with considerable expectations when she made her acting debut opposite Karan Deol in Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in 2019. However, the momentum she hoped to build was interrupted soon after as the COVID-19 pandemic brought film productions and the wider entertainment industry to a standstill.
For an actor who was only beginning to find her footing, the sudden break meant an unexpectedly long wait for the next opportunity.
“It was quite a journey, quite the wait. Honestly, also a little depressive. No work, no opportunities. I had to go back home. I wasn’t even in Mumbai — I was in Shimla for almost two years,” Sahher recalled.
Sahher Bambba Says Returning to Acting Wasn’t Easy
The period away from Mumbai also meant dealing with uncertainty about her future in the industry.
After eventually returning, Sahher found that getting work remained challenging. She revealed that she frequently reached the final stages of casting processes but would ultimately lose roles to other actors.
“I’d always make it to the shortlist, but someone else would get cast. It was disheartening,” she said.
The repeated setbacks eventually made her question whether acting was the right career path for her.
“I remember being at a point where I genuinely asked myself, ‘Is this even meant for me? Am I even cut out for this?’” Sahher added.
Her comments underline the less visible side of an actor’s career — the long stretches between auditions, shortlists and actual projects, particularly for performers trying to establish themselves.
OTT Gave Sahher Bambba Another Opportunity
The expansion of streaming platforms eventually opened another route for Sahher.
She went on to appear in The Empire, followed later by Ba*ds of Bollywood. The projects gave her opportunities to continue working and connect with a wider section of the Hindi entertainment industry.
For Sahher, the change has been about more than simply adding credits to her filmography. It has also helped her feel increasingly comfortable within an industry she once viewed from a distance.
Sahher Bambba on Meeting Sushmita Sen and Shah Rukh Khan’s Family
Sahher also spoke about the people she has encountered during this newer phase of her career.
“I’ve been meeting so many people from the industry, and everyone’s been so kind,” she said.
She recalled meeting Sushmita Sen and receiving encouraging words from the actor.
“I met Sushmita Sen ma’am and she said such lovely things. That meant a lot,” Sahher shared.
She also spoke warmly about Aryan Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, saying both had been supportive from the beginning.
“I’d say Aryan and Shah Rukh Khan sir, from the get-go, have been incredibly sweet. In fact, Shah Rukh sir’s whole family has been so welcoming,” she said.
A New Chapter for Sahher Bambba
Sahher’s journey has taken an unconventional route since her 2019 debut. What initially appeared to be the beginning of a conventional Bollywood career was followed by a prolonged pandemic interruption and a difficult period of uncertainty.
Her move into streaming projects has since provided another opportunity to build her career and work with established names in the industry.
After years of wondering whether she belonged in the profession she had chosen, Sahher now appears to be entering a more settled phase of her acting journey — one shaped as much by persistence as by the opportunities that eventually came her way.
