Richa Chadha is taking her association with storytelling in a new direction.

The actor and producer has unveiled the first look of Musafiri, a non-fiction travel series conceived around her personal connection with Mumbai. The project marks her non-fiction production debut and is designed to explore the city beyond the usual tourist landmarks.

The first season will feature eight episodes, with the entire season set across Mumbai.

Rather than following the familiar format of a conventional travel vlog, Musafiri aims to look at the people, neighbourhoods, heritage, communities and everyday stories that have shaped the city.

For Richa, Mumbai is more than the setting for the first season. It is the city where her professional journey developed and where she built a significant part of her life as an artist.

Explaining the idea behind the series, Richa said Mumbai has played a central role in her journey.

“Mumbai has been my karmabhoomi and I feel exceptional love for it, because it is still relatively safe for women,” she said.

The actor added that years of living and working in the city made her realise how many stories exist within places that people often pass without noticing.

“Over the years, I’ve discovered that every street, neighbourhood, market, heritage structure, and every community in this city has a story waiting to be told,” Richa said.

She described Musafiri as “my humble love letter to this incredible city.”

The series looks beyond conventional travel content

According to Richa, Musafiri is intended to encourage audiences to slow down and observe their surroundings rather than simply move from one tourist destination to another.

“This series is about slowing down, observing, and I promise you with each episode you will learn something new,” she said.

That approach gives the project a broader cultural focus. Instead of treating Mumbai simply as a backdrop, the series is expected to explore the history and human stories embedded in the city’s different areas.

Markets, heritage sites, neighbourhoods and communities are among the elements highlighted in the show’s concept.

Mumbai is only the beginning for ‘Musafiri’

Although the first season remains entirely focused on Mumbai, Richa has indicated that the larger vision for Musafiri extends beyond Maharashtra’s capital.

“Mumbai is where our journey begins, but it certainly doesn’t end here,” she said.

The actor-producer hopes the series can eventually document stories from different parts of India, particularly those that receive limited attention in mainstream travel programming.

“India is home to countless untold stories, forgotten traditions, remarkable people, and extraordinary places that deserve to be documented and celebrated,” she added.

That ambition could potentially turn Musafiri into a broader exploration of India’s cultural and geographical diversity in future seasons.

Richa Chadha wants viewers to see familiar places differently

At the heart of Musafiri appears to be the idea that travel does not necessarily require going somewhere completely unknown.

A familiar street, an old building, a neighbourhood market or a local community can reveal something new when explored with greater attention.

Richa said she hopes the series encourages audiences to approach travel with curiosity and empathy while developing a stronger appreciation for the heritage around them.

“My hope is that Musafiri inspires people to look at familiar places with fresh eyes and encourages them to travel with curiosity, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for the heritage that surrounds us,” she said.

What to expect from ‘Musafiri’

The first season of Musafiri will consist of eight episodes and will remain within Mumbai.

Further details about the individual locations, stories and format of the episodes have not yet been revealed.

With its Mumbai-first approach and plans for a wider national exploration, the series could offer a different perspective on travel storytelling—one focused less on ticking destinations off a list and more on understanding the places and people encountered along the way.

For Richa Chadha, Musafiri represents another expansion of her creative work as a producer, while for viewers it could become an invitation to rediscover a city that many believe they already know.

The journey begins in Mumbai. The larger destination, however, appears to be India itself.

MUMBAI: Bhojpuri actress Aamrapali Dubey has addressed long-running speculation about her relationship with actor and politician Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as Nirahua, making it clear that the two share a professional bond and a close friendship with his family. During a conversation on Bhojpuri Bawaal with Shubankar Mishra, Aamrapali was asked about the persistent rumours surrounding her equation with her frequent co-star. Rather than confirming the speculation, the actress described Dinesh as her co-star and spoke about the close relationship she shares with his family. Aamrapali Dubey clarifies her equation with Nirahua Addressing questions about whether Nirahua has a brother-like place in her life, Aamrapali appeared to reject that description as well. “Mere co-actor hai,” she said, describing Dinesh simply as her co-star. The actress then explained that her bond extends beyond their professional association because of her closeness to his family. “His family is my family. Unke bacche mere bahot acche dost hai,” she said, indicating that she shares a friendly relationship with his children. Her comments offered a straightforward explanation for why she and Dinesh have remained close despite years of speculation about their personal lives. Aamrapali reacts to repeated questions The actress appeared increasingly uncomfortable when the conversation repeatedly returned to rumours about their relationship. At one point, she responded firmly to the continued questioning: “Mere baare mein baat karne se pehle sochiyega kisse baat kar rahe hai aap.” The remark reflected her frustration with being repeatedly questioned about a subject she has previously addressed. Rather than allowing speculation to define their relationship, Aamrapali's comments placed the emphasis on their established professional association and her friendship with Dinesh's family. How Aamrapali and Nirahua became a popular screen pair Aamrapali and Nirahua have been among the most recognisable pairings in Bhojpuri cinema. Their association gained major attention with the 2014 film Nirahua Hindustani, which became an important title in their careers and helped establish their popularity as an on-screen combination. The two subsequently appeared together in several Bhojpuri projects, strengthening their reputation as a successful screen pair. Their chemistry in films, combined with public appearances and social media interactions, has repeatedly prompted fans to speculate about whether their close professional relationship extends into their personal lives. However, screen chemistry does not by itself establish a romantic relationship, and Aamrapali has consistently described their equation in terms of friendship, family ties and professional collaboration. What Aamrapali has said about the rumours The latest comments once again draw a distinction between the actors' on-screen chemistry and their real-life relationship. Dinesh Lal Yadav is married and has children, while Aamrapali has maintained a private personal life. Despite years of public curiosity, there has been no confirmation from the two actors that they are in a romantic relationship. Aamrapali's latest remarks therefore appear to be another attempt to put the speculation into perspective: she considers Nirahua a co-star and remains close to his family, while the romantic rumours surrounding their friendship continue to be a subject of public interest. For their large Bhojpuri fan base, the pair's professional chemistry remains a major attraction. But as Aamrapali's comments make clear, an enduring screen partnership and personal friendship should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of a romantic relationship.
