Raveena Tandon Apologises to Yami Gautam After Watching Dhurandhar: “I’m Your Husband’s Biggest Fan”

Actor Raveena Tandon recently made a candid and playful confession after watching the blockbuster Dhurandhar. The senior star revealed that she personally called Yami Gautam to apologise — for becoming an ardent admirer of her husband, filmmaker Aditya Dhar.

“You Have to Share My Attention”

During a session on the Zoom Spotlight podcast, Raveena spoke about the impact the film had on her.

“I saw Dhurandhar and I called Yami Gautam and said, ‘I am sorry. I am the biggest fan of your husband. You have to share my attention with your husband because I think he is completely it,’” she shared.

She went on to praise Aditya Dhar’s storytelling and scale, stating that he had revived a larger-than-life cinematic experience that audiences had been craving.

“He completely brought back what was missing. The audience felt satisfied after watching films like Pushpa, KGF, Dhurandhar and more. They felt like the hero looked like a hero. It is coming back to your country, its problems and dealing with it. The hero is emerging as a hero again,” she added.

Dhurandhar’s Box Office Run

Dhurandhar released in theatres on December 5 last year and emerged as a major commercial success. Set in Lyari town in Karachi, the film revolves around covert intelligence missions against the backdrop of significant geopolitical events, including the Kandahar plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

The film reportedly grossed ₹1300 crore worldwide, with over ₹800 crore coming from India, making it one of the highest domestic performers in Hindi cinema.

The action drama features Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles, alongside Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.

Raveena had special praise for the cast as well. Upon learning that Ranveer considers himself one of her biggest fans, she responded warmly and appreciated his performance in the film. She also lauded Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and the supporting ensemble for their standout work.

Sequel Announcement and Box Office Clash

The franchise is already expanding. The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is scheduled to release on March 19.

It is expected to clash with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, headlined by Yash and directed by Geethu Mohandas. The upcoming project also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair, with Yash also credited as co-writer.

With industry veterans and new-age stars backing both projects, the upcoming box office face-off is already generating buzz.
