Actor Rashmika Mandanna has said she has no intention of changing her warm and friendly personality despite online criticism, adding that kindness is a conscious choice and an important way to bring positivity into the world.
Rashmika Mandanna has addressed the criticism she occasionally faces on social media for her cheerful and affectionate nature, saying she would rather stay true to herself than change to fit public expectations.
Speaking during a conversation with Keerthika Govindhasamy on her YouTube channel, the actor reflected on how kindness is sometimes misunderstood online, with some social media users describing her behaviour as “overacting.” Rashmika, however, said she remains comfortable with who she is and sees no reason to alter her personality.
‘Kindness is not weakness’
Responding to questions about online trolling, Rashmika shared her belief that kindness should not be viewed as a weakness.
“Personally, I feel that kindness is not weakness, and I am someone who wants to be kind because there are a lot of negative feelings that are going around. I want to believe in kindness and bring some kind of positivity,” she said.
The actor added that she understands that not everyone will relate to her personality, but that does not affect her decision to remain authentic.
“Even if people call that overacting, it’s fine. Not everyone is everyone’s cup of tea. I choose to be like this, and I am very happy being like this because this is just me. I don’t have to pretend to do this; this is real. I can’t fake it to make someone happy,” Rashmika said.
According to the actor, staying true to herself is what keeps her family, friends and well-wishers happy, while also giving her a sense of personal peace.
Vijay Deverakonda speaks about online trolling
Vijay Deverakonda, who was also part of the conversation, spoke about the nature of social media criticism and suggested that public opinion online is not always organic.
“A lot of the trolling across politicians and actors is manufactured,” Vijay said.
He questioned how people can form strong opinions about individuals they have never met and suggested that coordinated online activity often shapes narratives around public figures.
“In the era of social media, it’s very easy to have multiple accounts. When someone decides to create a particular opinion, there can be a machinery that works to push that narrative,” he added.
Vijay also suggested that such criticism should not force people to change who they are.
Rashmika’s warmth often becomes a talking point
Over the years, Rashmika has earned a reputation for being approachable, cheerful and warm in public appearances and interviews. Many fans appreciate her positive attitude, while some social media users have questioned whether her expressions and gestures are genuine.
The actor’s latest comments indicate that she sees no contradiction between being kind and being authentic. For Rashmika, the choice to remain positive appears to be a personal value rather than a public image strategy.
Her remarks also reflect a wider conversation about how public figures navigate social media criticism and the pressure to constantly respond to online perceptions.
Rashmika and Vijay reunite on screen
Professionally, Rashmika and Vijay are set to reunite for Ranabaali, marking their first film together in seven years after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the period drama is set in 19th-century South India and revolves around a famine and the struggle against oppression during that era.
The film also stars Arnold Vosloo in a key role and is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16.
As Rashmika prepares for the release of the film, her message remains clear: kindness is a choice she intends to keep making, regardless of criticism.
