Rakul Preet Singh and Jackky Bhagnani’s Mumbai home has a feature that may be more unexpected than its stylish interiors or city views: a thriving terrace kitchen garden.

The couple’s reported Bandra residence, located in the Puja Casa building, combines contemporary interiors with plenty of greenery and outdoor space. During a recent home tour with Asian Paints, the couple offered a glimpse into the space they have created together.

The terrace garden appears to have started as a small experiment but has gradually become a shared hobby.

Today, the couple reportedly grows a variety of vegetables, herbs and other produce on the terrace, turning part of their Mumbai home into a small urban farm.

A Kitchen Garden High Above Mumbai

Growing fresh produce in the middle of Mumbai is not necessarily an obvious choice, particularly when living in a high-rise residence.

For Rakul and Jackky, however, the terrace has become an opportunity to bring some greenery into their everyday routine.

The garden reportedly includes everything from leafy herbs to vegetables and gourds, allowing the couple to grow ingredients that can eventually make their way into their kitchen.

The result is a more functional form of home gardening rather than greenery used purely for decoration.

From Brinjal to Pumpkins: What They Grow

The couple’s terrace garden reportedly contains a surprisingly broad range of produce.

Among the vegetables and herbs associated with their garden are:

  • Tomatoes
  • Pumpkins
  • Bottle gourds
  • Bitter gourds
  • Chillies
  • Mint
  • Coriander
  • Peppers
  • Capsicum
  • Cucumbers
  • Lady’s fingers
  • Brinjal

The brinjal appears to have a particularly practical purpose in the household.

Rakul and Jackky reportedly use their homegrown brinjals to prepare baingan ka bharta, turning something cultivated on their terrace into part of a family meal.

It is a simple example of how the garden has moved beyond being a decorative feature and become part of their lifestyle.

Their Approach to Sustainable Gardening

The couple has also shown an interest in more environmentally conscious methods of growing their produce.

According to the information shared around their home tour, they use a fertiliser derived from biogas waste, following advice from a biofuel company.

Using organic or waste-derived inputs can be one way for urban gardeners to reduce their reliance on conventional chemical fertilisers, although the suitability of any fertiliser depends on the plants, growing medium and application method.

For Jackky, the larger idea is about encouraging people to start growing food themselves rather than believing that a large garden is necessary.

A balcony, terrace or even a small backyard can provide enough space to begin with a few herbs or vegetables.

Fresh Food Starts at Home

Jackky has spoken about the value of eating fresh, nutrient-rich food and the role that home gardening can play in developing a closer relationship with what we eat.

A terrace garden does not need to produce a household’s entire food supply to be useful.

Even growing a few commonly used ingredients—such as coriander, mint, chillies or tomatoes—can reduce the distance between cultivation and consumption while giving people a better understanding of how food is grown.

For the couple, the process also appears to have become a shared leisure activity.

The Terrace Is More Than a Garden

The greenery is not the only reason the terrace has become an important part of the home.

Overlooking the Mumbai skyline, the outdoor area reportedly serves as one of Rakul’s preferred places to relax after a busy day.

The combination of plants, open air and the city view creates a quieter environment within a densely populated part of Mumbai.

For a celebrity couple with demanding work schedules, having an outdoor space that can function as both a garden and a relaxation area offers a useful escape without leaving home.

A Poolside Balcony for Entertaining

Another feature of the residence is a poolside balcony, which provides an additional outdoor area for spending time with friends and family.

The space can reportedly be used for outdoor meals and casual gatherings.

This gives the home a balance between private relaxation and entertaining, with the outdoor areas serving different purposes.

A Private Mini Theatre at Home

The couple’s home also reportedly includes a mini theatre equipped with a premium sound system.

For two people working in the film industry, having a dedicated movie-viewing space is an especially fitting addition.

A private theatre allows the couple to watch films at home while also providing a space for informal screenings with friends and family.

Earthy Interiors With Colourful Accents

Inside, the home’s aesthetic reportedly leans towards earthy wooden interiors.

Wood brings warmth and texture to a space, but too much of the same material can make a room feel visually repetitive.

The couple has reportedly addressed this by introducing colour through selected décor elements.

The combination of wood, colour, artwork and personal objects creates a more relaxed look rather than an overly formal luxury-home aesthetic.

A Home Designed Around Their Lifestyle

Reports suggest that Rakul and Jackky were closely involved in designing their approximately 4,200-square-foot residence after their wedding.

The resulting home appears to combine several aspects of their personalities and routines.

There is space for entertainment in the form of the mini theatre, outdoor areas for socialising, a terrace for relaxation and gardening, and interiors designed around warm natural materials.

The terrace garden arguably provides the most distinctive feature because it adds an element of everyday practicality to an otherwise luxury Mumbai residence.

Why Their Terrace Garden Stands Out

Celebrity homes are often associated with luxury furniture, elaborate interiors and expensive amenities.

Rakul and Jackky’s terrace garden offers something different.

It is a reminder that sustainability and luxury do not necessarily have to exist separately. A high-end city residence can still make room for plants, homegrown vegetables and more environmentally conscious habits.

The couple’s garden also shows how urban gardening can become a lifestyle rather than simply a weekend project.

From coriander and mint to pumpkins and brinjals, their terrace demonstrates that even in a major city like Mumbai, growing some of your own food can be both practical and enjoyable.

For Rakul and Jackky, what reportedly began as an experiment has grown into one of the most personal—and productive—corners of their home.
