Priyanka Sarkar Leads Protest After Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s Death, FIR Filed

The tragic death of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has sparked widespread outrage within the Bengali entertainment industry, with calls growing louder for a fair and transparent investigation.

Nearly a week after the incident, his wife Priyanka Sarkar joined members of the West Bengal Motion Pictures Artists’ Forum in a protest march held in Kolkata on April 4, demanding accountability and clarity surrounding the circumstances of his death.

Members of the forum organized a march from Technicians’ Studio to Radha Studio, holding placards that read “Justice for Rahul.” The demonstration saw participation from several prominent figures in the Bengali film industry.

Notable personalities present included Aparna Sen, Anjan Dutt, Srijit Mukherjee, Kaushik Ganguly, along with actors Parambrata Chatterjee, Rudranil Ghosh, Riddhi Sen, and Kaushik Sen.

The collective demand remained focused on uncovering the exact sequence of events that led to the actor’s untimely death.

FIR Filed Against Producers

An FIR has been registered against the production house associated with the television show Bholebaba Paar Karega, where the incident occurred.

According to reports, the forum had earlier reached out to the producers seeking detailed clarification but did not receive satisfactory responses. This led to legal action, with members insisting that the “real truth and exact circumstances” behind the tragedy must be brought to light.

A press briefing outside Regent Park police station was also attended by industry veterans such as Prosenjit Chatterjee, Santilal Mukherjee, and Rituparna Sengupta.

Details of the Incident

Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, aged 43, died in a drowning incident during a shoot in Talsari, Odisha. He was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Digha but was declared dead before receiving treatment.

The incident has raised serious questions regarding on-set safety protocols and emergency response measures during television shoots.
