Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was found dead in Ludhiana nearly six days after she allegedly went missing from her home. Her body was recovered from the Neelon Canal and later shifted to Samrala Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination after being identified by family members.
The case has triggered widespread attention in Punjab, with the singer’s family accusing a man identified as Sukhwinder Singh of orchestrating the alleged kidnapping and murder.
Singer Went Missing On May 13
According to a police complaint filed by her brother Jotinder Singh, Inder Kaur left her home around 8:30 pm on May 13 in her Ford Figo car to buy groceries but never returned.
After repeated attempts to contact her failed, the family launched a search and later approached police officials.

Family Alleges Forced Marriage Pressure
According to family members, Sukhwinder Singh allegedly held a grudge against Inder after she rejected his marriage proposal.
The family further claimed that the accused travelled from Canada to Punjab and, along with associates, allegedly intercepted the singer, kidnapped her at gunpoint and later murdered her before dumping her body in the canal.
They also alleged that the accused fled back to Canada after the incident.
Questions Raised Over Police Response
The family has questioned the handling of the case by local authorities. According to them, an FIR had already been registered on May 15 against Sukhwinder Singh and another accused identified as Karamjit Singh, but immediate action was allegedly not taken.
