Priyanka Chopra and Winnie Harlow brought contrasting interpretations of festive red to the Diwali celebration hosted by Priyanka and Nick Jonas at their Los Angeles home.
Priyanka chose a fitted burgundy ensemble with gold embellishment, while Winnie wore a bright red lehenga with an extensive jewellery selection. The shared colour palette connected their looks, but the silhouettes and styling gave each a distinct character.
Priyanka Chopra’s burgundy look puts embroidery first
Priyanka’s outfit combined an off-shoulder neckline with a structured, gown-like silhouette. Gold embroidery covered the deep maroon fabric, bringing traditional decorative detail to a contemporary shape.
Beaded trims added texture around the neckline. An embroidered neck detail framed her shoulders and reduced the need for a separate statement necklace.
Her earrings featured dark red drops that echoed the outfit, while a small maang tikka introduced another traditional accent. With the embroidery already providing plenty of detail, the accessories remained selective.
A jasmine gajra completes the styling
Priyanka wore her hair in a sleek bun surrounded by a white gajra. The flowers offered a softer finish against the densely embellished fabric.
Her makeup stayed within a warm palette, with defined brows, softly shaded eyes, flushed cheeks and a deep red lip. The overall effect brought together the structure of eveningwear and familiar elements of Indian festive dressing.
Winnie Harlow chooses a red lehenga and layered jewellery
Winnie’s look centred on a flared red lehenga decorated with floral and paisley motifs. A sweetheart-neck blouse and sheer dupatta added variation in texture, balancing the heavier embellishment.
Her jewellery was a prominent part of the outfit. A layered choker, long earrings, maang tikka and stacks of bangles created a more elaborate finish. A hand ornament extended the styling beyond the neckline and face.
Where Priyanka concentrated detail in the garment, Winnie distributed it across the lehenga, jewellery and accessories. Her ensemble had a bridal-inspired richness, although she was attending as a guest.
Curls, mehendi and a childhood connection
Winnie paired the outfit with long, centre-parted curls and bronze-toned eye makeup. A glossy neutral lip kept the beauty look softer than the vivid clothing.
Mehendi was another visible element of her festive styling. Without an explanation from Winnie about the meaning of individual designs, those details are best described without assigning symbolism to them.
Her outfit did, however, have a personal reference she shared publicly. In her accompanying message, Winnie connected the look to a childhood photograph of herself wearing red Indian attire. She recalled growing up around different cultures in Toronto and described revisiting that memory for the celebration.
Two ways to style a festive colour
The outfits offered different approaches to occasion dressing. Priyanka balanced intricate embroidery with a restrained accessory selection and a neat hairstyle. Winnie combined a fuller silhouette with layered jewellery and loose curls.
Both looks showed how strongly styling can influence the same colour family: deep burgundy became structured eveningwear, while bright red took on a more ornate, traditional character.
