Global star Priyanka Chopra has addressed long-standing conversations around her transition from Bollywood to Hollywood, clarifying that her move was driven by creative ambition rather than a desire to leave the Hindi film industry.
In a recent interaction with Firstpost, the actor reflected on the turning point in her career and explained that she was seeking roles that felt more exciting and artistically fulfilling.
“I don’t think I ever wanted to leave Bollywood. I felt limited for many reasons when I was working in Hindi films. I was looking for opportunities that felt exciting to me as an artist and I landed up working in America,” she shared.
Seeking Greater Creative Freedom
After years of dominating the Hindi film industry, Priyanka began exploring international projects that allowed her to step outside conventional roles. Her breakthrough in the West came with the American television series Quantico, which marked the beginning of a parallel career in global entertainment.
Since then, she has steadily expanded her presence in Hollywood while maintaining professional ties in India. The move, she suggested, was about growth and exploration rather than distancing herself from Bollywood.

Now 43, Priyanka continues to divide her time between India and the United States. She is currently filming a project with director S. S. Rajamouli while also promoting her latest release, The Bluff.
Speaking about navigating both industries, she expressed enthusiasm about working in India again and emphasized that she values being part of two cinematic worlds rather than choosing one over the other.
Over a decade after expanding into the American market, Priyanka has built a dual-base career across continents. Following her marriage to singer-actor Nick Jonas, the couple welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, and currently reside in California while continuing to manage international commitments.
