In the ongoing legal battle over the estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur, his widow Priya Kapur has defended the distribution of assets, telling the Delhi High Court that it is a “healthy tradition” for a husband to leave all his assets to his wife.
The high-profile case involves Sunjay’s children from his first marriage to Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan, who have raised questions about the authenticity of the will.
Priya’s Counsel Explains the Tradition
During Thursday’s hearing, senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, representing Priya Kapur, stated:
“There is nothing suspicious about a husband giving everything in his assets to his wife. As is the case in my father-in-law’s will, where everything was given to his wife. It is a healthy tradition which perhaps has been maintained.”
Advocate Nayar added that the same practice was followed by Sunjay Kapur’s father, Rani Kapur, indicating a family tradition of asset allocation to the spouse.

Background of the Case

The legal dispute involves questions raised by Karisma’s children, alongside Sunjay’s mother and sister, regarding the authenticity and distribution of the late businessman’s estate.
